Rear end. Not much more than that if it is running well.

Click on the Texas board and ask for help/info from some local help. When you change the rear tire, pull the drive unit and check splines and drive shaft. Get the latest info on spline grease and shaft grease. The bolt tightening sequence of the drive unit is important so ask when you get around to it.

Fluids to me would be a given on any vehicle.

Comin up n 122000+ on my 99 I/S. That equates to 87000 miles I put on her since I bought her. That rear end maint I M H O is THE single most important aspect of the long lives these machines can achieve. A GOOD synthetic or dino oil is the next. And in my case anywho-good clean electrical contacts. Take awhile and peruse the tech archives here. LOTSA cursed good info on our rides of choice. And consider yer self warned-all those miles and all these years later-she STIL makes me grin!  cooldude Welcome to our sand box and the insanity-RIDE SAFE.

Get a Honda manual or a Clymer manual for your Valkyrie. Lotsa information on the board you an print and create your own loose leaf binder setup. As many times as I've done the rear end service I still follow the procedure(s) laid out in the service manual. if you know which end of a screwdriver or a wrench to hang onto you can do your own service.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Try going to Texas board. A lot of good people in the Austin and San Antonio area. Welcome to the family.

I concur with changing all fluids.

I would also recommend shock bushings on tire change as well as an air filter. Other items on an as needed basis. Intake o-rings were an issue for me (I used Red-eye parts). I do ride with a spare kickstand spring and bolt just in case.

I would also highly recommend Jake Wilson tire valves! https://www.jakewilson.com/p/1753/19082/Myers-90%C2%B0-Tubeless-Chrome-Valve-Stem

I bought my Interstate almost 5 years ago and have put on about 40,000 miles.

I did go Darkside (car tire) and like it.

Download service manual:  http://www.valkyrienorway.com/download.html

Maintenance guide: http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/valkmaintenanceguide.html

Generic part equivalants: http://www.jkozloski.com/generic_parts.htm

There is lots of help available on this board and past issues via searching past board discussions.

Here is original brochure I scanned. Click on picture to download. Its 11 x 38 inches double sided so the file size is ginormous.
