Dave in Frisco Down today! « on: Today at 07:56:47 PM » Quote
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He was coming back from Greenville and was rear ended by a van on the Lavon hwy about 1:30 this afternoon. They are keeping him overnight, maybe a day or two. He would like you all to know he broke his ass! Actually fractured his pelvis in two places. He is hoping the Wing is totalled, but won't know til Tuesday. Rm 425 at Mckinney Medical Center on 75/121/5. Very needy, seeking company like a craig's list horn dog on Saturday night! -Jeff
Sorry someone else will have to post his picture, I don't know how to get it from the email to this board.
He was doing well when we left. They are keeping his pain down. Physical therapy will see him tomorrow.

Yikes....that gives the term....."PIA" a whole new meaning....maybe he should invest in having an Air Hawk cushion sewn to his butt while riding?....Seriously though, hope he heals up soon...

So sorry to hear about one of our "family" members going down. Although he is hurt, appears he will heal. You can tell by the picture he'll be okay. Also, his sense of humor about his broken $ss. Thank GOD for helmets.
Be safe everyone and praying for healing mercies over Dave.

Are you an organ, tissue and eye donor for your state? Did you know one person can save or enhance the lives of up to 75 people. The # of people waiting for organs in the US would overflow the University of Michigan football stadium. It's the biggest in the country. Will seat over 109,000.

Prayers for a speedy recovery. Look forward to seeing you again soon.
How about making the Mid-Winter Gathering in February down in the hill country? Don't think we had anyone from the Dallas area last year.

I spoke to his wife this AM. The hospital already has him up on a 4 legged walker. The breaks were simple; not compound; so they should heal up OK.

Hello to all my VRCC family,
Thank you all so much for your warm wishes. It has been truly heartwarming to have people from across town, out of town, out of state, and out of the country, who otherwise would be considered strangers or casual acquaintances were it not for the special bond we share, visit, call, text, email, post, hand-make get well cards, crack wise, and pray for my speedy and complete recovery. I like to think I have a fairly good vocabulary, but I can't think of what comes after lucky, blessed, and miraculous. What ever the superlative is, I'm it!
I am pleased to report that I'm doing exceedingly well considering I was minding my own business waiting for the mini-van in front of me make his left turn and when he started, I eased out the clutch and was rear-ended. During the next few seconds I was practically shot out of a cannon, landed on by a goldwing, flew/slid/rolled 80-100 feet, and pushed myself out from under the front valance of a still-rolling mini-van as we both came to a stop.
Slightly chipped tooth? Yeah, so? Bruised, not broken, ribs? I don't care if it hurts when I laugh. Bruises on my collar bone and shoulder? cursed armor. Quarter-size rash on my right knee? Gives character and builds street cred with the neighborhood kids. Rash on my right butt cheek? Bragging point and conversation starter. Two non-displaced fractures of the right pelvis? Man, if you're going to have fractures in your pelvis, these are the ones to get! Stable, with no surgery required, and already partial weight-bearing. Lemondrop loaned me her walker, and with the proper doses of Percoset, I'm ambulatory and almost self-sufficient.
I didn't even lose consciousness. (Coming to a stop on a 5-10 degree slope on my back with my head down probably helped.) I'm sure the driver's backrest helped me as did the gloves, riding jacket (being worn for the first time since Spring!), 3/4 Arai, and steel-toed boots. The soreness in my knees probably would have been minimized with touring pants.
All in all, I probably shouldn't complain about anything else for the rest of my life. I don't really understand how or why I survived, much less in the great condition I'm in.
I appreciate the VRCC more than I can express. This is a wondereful group of people.
DFG
