These don't look factory to me, but seller says they came new on his bike.   Am I missing something?

Champion bags not Factory. But that being said the dealer could have installed them before he bought it.

Those aren't very good pictures, but to me they look
like they might be Champion bags. $400 is a great
price for good Champions, those are scratched up and
have hinge problems he says...

I have no problems writing the poster and telling them/him, that they aren't factory bags, and to change his post.

I take it that they also require different hardware to mount them on the bike? I didn't see anything saying hardware comes with it. So Factory should be no where in that post.

Well, boys and girls, I never mentioned what I paid.    Roll Eyes  Besides, by the time I get them painted, they still won't be cheap...but I do have a few spare parts on hand now!

Even though I'm already committed on the OEM bags (only ones I would have considered), I still like poking around seeing what else is out there.   Thanks for the quick ID on the ebay bags.  I did PM the guy.  He truly thinks they're factory.  As bighead mentioned, they were probably dealer-installed.  You can see the mounting brackets in one of the photos.  Definitely not the same scheme as "real" factory bags.

I have the same Champion bags on my Standard for 15 years now. Still look great. And last year I bought some new hinges for the bags at Champion, the price was really reasonable, great service.
I can compare them with the OEM bags on my Interstate. I think the Champion bags are better than the OEM bags. More sturdy, more quality. If you can have these bags for under 400 dollar I think you have a great deal.

Thanks for the insight, F-six.  I don't think anyone was disparaging the Champions - and in fact very favorable comments have been made about them.    The point here was that they were being described as OEM.   If you're right and they're actually of better quality, with the necessary brackets included, then the timing was about a week too late for me...    Undecided

+1

That's all I was suggesting. Other wise, when they show up, the purchaser is right in returning them.

If you are buying them to replace your OEM bags, then they wont fit. If you have nothing, I hope the buyers ask if they come with mounting hardware, and again, not also buying OEM mounting hardware to fit them on your bike.

Take a look at both my 1800 and 1500. The 1800 has the bags in the auction and are fantastic high quality bags and he has the 1500 brackets.  My call, well worth the money. Champion Patriot bags are fiberglass and the entire interior is thin carpet lined. I have held them up to the 1500 bag and the size shape is exact.  Yes he is a blockhead and will not listen the the truth. But it is a great deal!

This seller lives one town south of me.  I sent him a notice, respectfully, that his bags are not OEM and offered to stop by to show him the difference.

Point was taken and after the bags were identified as Champions I figured I give some more insight how these bags compare to the OEM bags.

I was going to take a different approach, and ask for pictures of the mounting hardware. He posted he didn't have the bolts/nuts.

But the auction has ended. Looking it up, seems he withdrew it.

Maybe he is taking peoples advice and not wanting to deal with a frustrated buyer and ebay. Waiting on information on what an OEM bag is. Just because the dealer installed them, doesn't make them Factory.

Sounds like they are a great made bag. Only difference I can tell is the latch mounted deeper. Would be a good buy at the $400 with all items needed and just a little scratch repair on the bags.
