Hi. Anyone know the location of the flasher on a 99 standard?  I want to change to an electronic one for LED turn bulbs. Looked under right side cover by fuse box but don't see it.

Thanks.

#12 in this diagram, located in front of the battery.  They call it a turn signal relay, and it's $42, so I suspect it's more than just a simple flasher, but others can clarify.  I've never had to mess with it.

Its easier to see that flasher relay if you take the other (left) side cover off.  I just did and man was it dirty in there, so I thank you, gave me the opportunity to remove the overflow bucket and clean it and all the gismos and wires.  You can actually see stuff in there now!

Its one of those little black boxes.  I think its the farthest one away (to the right)

We had one in the underground tunnels between the dormitories and the dining hall a bunch of times.

He like to wear bright orange pants.  This was a poor plan.   (well, the whole thing was a poor plan, but the pants were kind of a giveaway)

He was a rough character, three gals tackled him down and held him for the constabulary.  (You messed with the girls jock dorm at your own risk)

(sorry, wrong flasher)

You are going to have to rewire the flash indicator - w/o doing so you will get 4-way flashers instead of a turn signal because of the way Honda wired it - using the opposite side bulbs as the ground path.  Or you can buy a kit from Custom Dynamics.  I wired my own using 2 LED's inside the flash indicator instead of a bulb (LED's are diodes - one-way current gates). The way I set it up, my flash indicator also tells me if my taillight bulb is working. See https://www.customdynamics.com/pdf/MDK%20Tech%20sheet.pdf

Thanks Mark T for the explaining.  The hell with it, I am going to just let them flash fast for now.

Fast flash is likely a bad bulb or a grounding issue somewhere not the flashing relay anyway.

Chris..
the original post says he is install LED turn signal bulbs.
Thus the need to change the flasher or add resistors.

Thanks 98Valk, looks like its the way to fly. I hate buying stuff on the web vs going to autozone where you can see it.

Thats a direct replacement if you're looking to slow down the flash rate when installing LEDs.

I just wanted to verify, which is the correct link? Does the Valkyrie require the 2 or 3 pin connector? The custom LED link is 2 pin and I think the link to lockhart is 3 pin.

Thanks!

special 3 pin.  there is actually out there an adapter cable which allows a standard 2 pin flasher to be used. I bought one on ebay, the guy couldn't remember who made it, if it is still made is another question, he had it on his Valkyrie.

I had the same concern when it came, but, its plug and play. It works.

I had the flash rate slowed down to an almost acceptable level with the original flasher by changing front bulbs to higher cp. But, this one slowed them even more.

You don't actually need at 3 pin a 2 pin will do but you have to make your own connector to the existing loom. 2 pin are generally cheaper as they are universal.
