Escape to the mountains for the 4th Annual R&R (Rik & Ron) Road Trip (also known this year as F.A.R.R,R.T. ride)! October 3rd and 4th
We will depart from Mesa Saturday morning October 3rd and head east thru Globe proceeding to Safford. From Safford we will ride north on the infamous Route 191. We'll ride thru Clifton and see one of the biggest open pit mines and then the fun begins. Route 191 has been referred to as Arizona's Deals Gap. This is a twisty, curvy road that climbs in elevation through some very breathtaking scenery until hitting the tall Ponderosa pines. We then will make a stop at Hannagan’s Meadow at 8,000 feet + where the temp will be nice and cool and there is frequently a chance of rain so we recommend you come prepared.
We will leave Hannigan’s Meadow, proceed thru Alpine (8300'), and then ride north to Springerville where we will spend the night at Best Value Inn. Dinner will be at a new place Rik has found (It’s a secret). Down the street from Best Value Inn is Booga Reds restaurant and bar for anyone wishing a nightcap.
On Sunday, we are planning a leisurely breakfast and then rolling back down the hill through Payson From there back to Mesa and home. Approx 270 miles day one and 225 day two. A total of 500 miles through some of Arizonans most scenic country and cool to boot!

Saturday October 3rd, kick stands up at 8:00 am at the gas station. It’s a Shell station, I think, on the SW corner of Gilbert and Southern in Mesa. Have breakfast beforehand so you can be ready to ride as we won't stop for food until Safford/Clifton.
