Hello All,

I know its been over a month since I last posted.  As some of you know, I took my family and motorcycle to NC for vacation.  Thanks to all who PMed me to check how I am.  Various life events after returning took priority (work, kid started school, etc).  Anyway, I wanted to drop in say Hi and share some of our vacation pics.  All in all it was AWESOME!  I will update this post more "ride report" specific details over time.  I did have 1 small, not so fun incident (I'm fine but bike got hurt) I will get into that later.  Bottom line, we are all back, safe and healthy, including "Lola" (that's the name my wife gave to my Valk). Without further ado...

The PICS:

Staring with... LOLA :-)

first waterfall we saw and visited... Looking Glass Falls

First rest stop of my solo motorcycle loop... this is from the Blue Ridge Parkway

This was the view from the family room of the rental home...

Here is a link to my PhotoBucket album where I put these and more photos...

I don't know if it works tho...

TO BE CONTINUED...

Neat pictures, glad you had a great time. Always good to get away and relax. Where was the place located that you rented?

we stay 15 mins from Brevard, in a community call Ridge Top in Pisgah Forest.  it was really nice.  about 30 mins north of SC border.  weather was PERFECT.  LOTS of twisties, mountain climbs and decents, very very little traffic and lights, very scenic and views were all amazing. I only went out 4 times since i was with the family.  When I did go out, I went out in the mornings.  Morning temps was about 65-70 degrees which to me was perfect.  I have some video, as soon as I figure out how to post I will.  This is considered "land of the waterfalls", I'd say its also "land of the motorcycle rider" I saw many.  As I did get many compliments about my Valk.  i think you could spend a year there and do a different ride every day without repeating the same route :-)  the road from entrance gate of our community to the driveway was 2.5 miles of up a mountain twisty. Going down was fun!  I have video of it.  more to describe later..

PS: to Bronxboy: we have things in common, i was born and raised in BX, Hunt's Point and later Parkchester of Tremont (when I was moving on up).. If we ever meet i'll give you a nice authentic Cuban cigar to go with a nice premium single malt...

my bike is currently in the shop getting worked on, long story short, to avoid an accident in front of us I had to get off drive off the road into a inclined ditch, it that maneuver one strap snapped and the bike tipped over and bumped the trailer side rail.  a little tank damage, thats all.  A truck about 1/4 mile in front of us dropped some load in front of another motorcycle who fell and every one of us behind him and to stop, small pill up i was able to avoid.  Biker got up so he was ok.  but very scary.  it was on a downhill grade.  luckily my valk was still very ride-able and now its getting fixed.  I'm also looking at getting cobras installed (I mentioned on a diff discuss thread). anyway, I know there is a Valk riders event coming up, I cant commit to that yet since i'm not sure if my bike will be ready in time.  If i can i will but still TDB...

You mentioned the upcoming event.....It is perfectly fine to arrive by car! They make some of the best fried fish I have had the honor of eating (next to Mom's of course!) and the crowd will be large and a good one. Many cigars will meet their demise at this event.

Great pictures, I love that part of the country. I've been up to North Carolina 3 times and "Blue Ridge" Georgia once last year and I've taken a motorcycle every time. This year we'll be up there the last week of October but no bike, just the jeep. Try to make the fish fry so we can all get to meet you.

I grew up in the Belmont section by Arthur AV. Try and make the Fish Fry at La Casa Di Flask, U will get to meet most of the Gang in one trip  cooldude

Great Pictures, most of us have been up in that area multiple times, the mountains and roads up there never get old  cooldude

I'm going to try and get out there, even if by car.  I wish there was a place to RENT a Valk :-) incase mine is not ready by then... (hint)  i once considered a VRod HD and rented one to try.  But when i first saw and then rode the Valk that nonsense left my mind LOL (ps: i'm not a HD hater just a loyal Honda lover)
