I just clicked the Harley ad at the top of the pics link and browsed the 2010 models. Looks like they are offering a CVO 110cu Ultra Classic for a paltry 36K. Nothing listed on hp, but they claim 115 ft. lbs of torque. HHmmmm... one HD or three Valk I/S's for the same price. I don't know about everybody else, but 36K cycles are probably going to sit on the showroom for a while, at least in MI where unemployment is rampant. They will probably ending up sellng a few , though. Too much for two-wheeled transportation, IMHO.

The market for those bikes aren't buying "two wheeled transportation."

There will always be those individuals that just have to have "that perfect Harley". Of course they have more dollars than sense. And they may need the Harley because the Viagra just doesn't work anymore.

When the 96"er came out a couple years ago I asked the salesman about HP. He shook his head and said they are only 5-8 hp more then the the TC 88's were. So it put them in the upper 70's to low 80's. My guess for these are right at 100 hp. I stopped at a HD dealer on the way home from the CBR and they had a CVO SE Road Glide. Gowd it was purty. Orange everywhere. It had a $32K tag on it. Someday maybe....

Most of the money in the H-D CVO bikes is chrome. They put more chrome on them than is necessary. Too much chrome. But then they paint them beautifully. Having said that, the H-D CVO engines are underpowered considering their displacement, and run way to hot. They have to run them lean to meet EPA emissions standards and that makes them run very hot. A much better option for a strong running H-D is to buy the base H-D and put in one of the many great aftermarket 103ci kits that Headquaters and others put out there that make great numbers and are also very streetable. http://www.head-quarters.com/html/tc103_kits.htmlThe CVOs are for those that buy a bike for the ego, or they just plain have money to burn, but they're not for riders. Real riders will build their own out of aftermarket parts that don't worry about EPA stuff and make those engines run to their potential. Here's their numbers. It's about a $3K upgrade maybe more if you're paying top dollar for a skilled mechanic. You guys run into one of these and they will give the Valkyrie a real good run. Power and fuel mileage expectations. Torque Horsepower Mileage Touring 110-120 100-110 43 MPG Sport Touring 115-125 105-115 45 MPG Sport 120-130 110-120 45 MPG The above using stock carbs or throttle bodies and good 2 into 1 pipes. Larger carbs and throttle bodies will increase HP and decrease Torque.

Mine is a built bike...... but I do personally know a couple CVO riders that are for honest and real riders....Both have or have had valks....blanket statements are sooo..... well.... blanket.....

I've got the '08 Ultra and I like it. Granted, it is a dog compared to a Valk, but still a nice bike. I had the '06 Wing after my Valk I/ S and that was much quicker than the valk, but in their own way a nice bike too (just a little too much plastic for my liking). I think if I was going to spend $36,000 on a new bike I would get the Indian though instead of the Harley, and yes, your right, I'd rather have 3 Valk Interstates!

Yeah, you're right, I apologize.. it's just geezum, ...all that chrome it ain't nuttin gonna' get ya home.. and then the engine is just not gonna compare to what you can build when you don't gotta play by the EPAs rules. I just can't see buying an SE, but I see lot's of guys that do. I guess I look at the world through a pair of glasses that is single income and puttin two kids through college.. and then some. So, CVOs are just excess. Although I just can't wait to stuff one of those headquarters builds into my EGC.

Headquarters makes a GREAT build!!!! Mine is a 88 bored to 95... head work ,and cams..not HQ.. not a race bike by any means, but does run down the road ok ..97hp 98 ft/lb. and will get out of it's own way.... which the stock 88 would not. I like it .... Wasn't trying to jack ya up.... but do have 2 VRCC friends with CVOs... and they ride. You are Correct... chrome won't get a home.....that's why I powder coated most parts black..LOL .. and easy to clean!!

I try to avoid drugs myself these days, poor recovery rate. I find that if you just remove the boots before voiding I'm all set.
