I have wondered if the Musical Selection of the Evening was worth the server space. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy doing it and I have learned quite a lot in the effort. I have received a lot of good comments at IZ and other events but lately the numbers have been 35 or 25 or sometimes even less. I will do it from now on if most members want it to go on. So what do you think, let me know ........  Brian

Brian,

I have to admit I do not always check it out, usually based on my time and schedule. The times that I have taken the time have been enjoyable and enlightening. It is obvious you put some time in researching these artists. Sometimes I play the songs, sometimes I don't, again time and then some music doesn't appeal to me. However, you do a good job of mixing it up. I think it should be up to you. If you enjoy it carry on, if it is becoming a burden, either curtail it, or make it a once or twice a week thing. I like to try and read all the threads just for the info and entertainment, but if it is something I am not interested in I move on. I didn't vote on the poll because I did not feel any of the answers applied to me. Thanks for the efforts you make in having a positive post through music!

Since any sort of streaming media is blocked here at work, I cannot open them.  And at home, my internet is so slow and frustrating, that I rarely use it.

Please continue.  Through your posts, I've discovered some new music that I otherwise wouldn't have known about.

I grew up listening to and playing music.  I distinctly remember rockin' out to my brother's 45's of Little Richard, Chuck Berry. Elvis and the Everly Brothers as a 5 year old.  Music is pretty much ingrained in me.  IHMO, life isn't worth living without music in it......it's that important to me.

Keep postin'.   cooldude

It's worth continuing if you enjoy doing it. If you miss a day or even a week so be it. Don't be tied down with it but by all means do it if you love it.

I open it about 3 times a week and do enjoy seeing some things that catch my eye-ear.

I'm starting to think though that you aren't the least bit interested in Rap.  Undecided

I have a soft spot for female vocalists. Shawnia Twain, Blondie, Janis Joplin, KT Tunstall, the singing nun (really) Anne Lennox, Aretha Franklin ....

Don't worry about bandwidth, your links don't take much and if it does the STAFF will get more. If there were no posts to read it would be dead. The Youtube videos don't effect the VRCC servers bandwidth.

Hey, Brian,

I always view "Selection."  I've learned alot from your "Selection" post.  And I've had my musical borders expanded because of your efforts.   cooldude   cooldude

Server space is not an issue, nor is bandwidth.  Keep doing it!  As Raymond said, do it when its convenient for YOU to do it and don't worry about keeping to some sort of schedule.

One suggestion: In your subject line, add the band/singer. Instead of just saying "Musical Selection of the day", put "Musical Selection of the day: Fleetwood Mac"  Some folks might say, HEY!  I love them, I'm gonna check that out.  Or they might say, Hmm...never heard fleetwood mac....and check it out. As Redvalk says, its all about presentation.  cooldude

Keep up the good work, Bro.

I don't read them all. I tend to hover over the line and see what band is up. If it's a band I'm interested in or if it is a band I don't know I usually open it.

So, yeah, I enjoy it.

Sometimes it is a trip down memory lane, other times it is educational. I like it.

There are worse uses of server space. Keep it up.

I wish I could open them over here - but like when I used it as an ice breaker every morning when I was teaching class, my company has a filter block on Youtube (even over here in Africa).

I have a learned a lot from your posts.

I look forward to reading your Musical Selection of the Evening. Granted, sometimes it is early the next morning, but I do enjoy it. I have learned some very interesting facts about some of my favorite groups. So, my vote is yes, please do continue if you really enjoy doing it. Thanks for the time and dedication that you put into them.

Brian, those trips down memory lane are worth the trip to avoid the political rants and post about which oil I should use.

Keep it up if you ENJOY doing it!!!

I may not always open them the same day they appear but almost always check them out eventually. I have bookmarked many of the youtube videos.

As winter nonriding season comes for so many your great musical posts are IMHO part of the glue that holds us together and keeps us entertained.

Do them as it suits you and dont worry about us. Whether its once a day or once a week they are good stuff.
