I have recently purchased a IS that came with a cobra exhaust and found that it was to loud for me. I have recently changed back to the original exhaust but have no information on if the previous owner ever rejected the bike with the cobra exhaust. I had my girlfriend tell me tonight when I rode by the she thought it smelled like exhaust well if he did not change the jets for the Cobras and with it now having the stock system on it I assume it would be running rich really don't feel like getting involved in checking the carbs so if this is the case will it bother the bike running a little rich. I am running a half a can of B-12 in the gas not sure if this is causing the extra exhaust smell.

the re-jet kit did not change the main jets. it was mainly adjustable needles and they are most likely adjusted to be too rich. pull the needles and if adjustable put the clip and washers second slot from the top. will lean it out for OEM pipes.

I'd first try turning your fuel/air mixture screw in a half turn. No need to pull carbs to do it and costs nothing. Then check your plugs to confirm if still rich.

I have the stock exhaust, and generally  I don't need to use the choke to "cold" start my bike ...would that mean that my Fuel/Air is maybe a little too rich?

Your plugs will tell you all u need to know. do a search on here. Many right ups and discriptions. If black and sooty and wet, then rich. Light brown and dry is best. Just search

The plugs looked ok .Took the K&N off and put in oem filter, a little less back fire on desceleration, .I was told the slow jets were changed on cobra pipes installation , are they larger? Need to check the synch on carbs also.
Rode this bike from Michigan to Houston with not one problem in two days the cobras took a bit getting used to (don t like noise) lol. should have put #8 plugs it has 7s for cold climate and no hard riding!

Possibility someone installed 38 slow jets, if so, you generally use less or no "choke". Results in less warm up time, and quicker time getting the kickstand up. All good imo.
