I was bleeding the rear brakes on my 97 valk and it ran out of fluid. ( yes I know beginner mistake, no excuse) anyway now I cannot get the brakes to pump up so I assume I destroyed the seal or something. The brake pedal goes all the way down to the stops and the fluid level in the reservoir remains the same. Does a busted seal sound like the correct diagnosis? If so how do you go about replacing it or what would anyone suggest as an alternate problem?

Air lock somewhere.

Some use a Mitey Vac (sp)

I use a automotive bleeder hand pump.

It attaches to the bleed nipple and pulls the fluid though.

Just got to make sure the reservoir stays full.

I use a rig like this, one hose on the bleed nipple and suck on the other to get it going,, as long as the bottle is lower than the master cylinder, it will bleed itself.

Yup, gravity feed. Lots of guys do it this way. Me...I am lazy and put speed bleeders on all lines that have bleeders...clutch, brakes, etc.

The brakes can be reverse bled if all else fails. Remove the pads , keep fluid in the reservoir , put a thin block of wood where the pads were and pump the pistons almost out. Then hold the caliper with the hose up and push the pistons back in being careful not to over flow the fluid. The cap has to be off for this method.  Put it together and pump up and test.
