Listen to CA he is right the deuce risers are the only way to go as far as I am concerned. They are the best. If you have a std put an interstate throttle housing on and use the stock throttle cables. If you have an interstate use the standard throttle cables and you won't have to reroute anything and you have plenty of clearance.

What do you mean by the "standard throttle cables", the OEM IS or ones for a Std?

How do you read the info for the risers, and what is the Valk dimensions to compare it to? I wish to get the bar closer to me, as I find myself leaning forward too much.

the std/tourer models are different than the I/S.  I know cable lengths are different and the I/S handles bars are narrower.
Deuce risers will bring bars closer to rider and higher slightly.

I put these 6" Harley risers on Jade - don't recall the source or price but it was reasonable.  I had to reroute the cables but it was worth it.  Way more comfortable for me.  I can dig up more detail if interested.

I was thinking of these.

But the new risers look nicer, taller, and more pull back.

Then it will clean up my riser cross bar, which has some un used mounting holes drilled into it.

gordonv was going to show you what I installed on my 98 Tourer a few years back. Very similar to the picture you posted. Can't open Photostash
to show you a picture.

I was getting a pain between my shoulders (upper back) when I rode 4 hrs. or more. Was 6ft tall awhile ago. My reach felt ok
but wanted to experiment a little bit with out having to buy longer cables and not fix the problem. The risers worked for me
I was pain free my first long ride after the install.

Duce risers (copies), J&P cycles $100.

Have had mine for almost 15 yrs, still look new.

I bought two sets, various times, on ebay.  Take off from guys with Deuces, that went to other risers.  Genuine HD, NOT knock offs. $50 each set.

actually mine were about $60 when they first came out, just gave an approx. updated price. take off are always good, there were none back then. genuine HDs are most likely made by the knock off company.  Wink

$79. at JP.  Can you elaborate on putting the I/S throttle housing on the standard?
Thanks,  Bob

The Interstate housing exits the cables to the left, the Standard housing exits them out the back.  In effect giving you a little more play with the Interstate housing.

Yeah, zillions of generic 1" risers out there for H-D and any indy shop with a Custom Chrome, Tucker Rocky, Drag/LeMans account can get them for you. I reamed my top tree's riser bolt holes to allow the SAE riser bolts to fit, but there are dual thread studs to run SAE risers with metric tree holes. In my case I was fine with the original bar's height on my '97 Std, but my first 500 mile day left a previously broken left clavicle all but screaming on the second day. All I wanted to do was move them straight back around 3", so I chose ones that came up about an additional inch and back about two and the angle of the top tree did the rest. No need to do anything with the cable or wires. Mine are similar to this style, with the same very extreme bend.

That's exactly what I want.    I can do the metric to sae bolt but Some pics have a flat bottom and some are stepped.

Depends on the diameter of the riser bottoms compared to the slight recessed areas on the top of the tree. If in doubt, just get ones with no flare at the bottom. One thing to keep in mind is an extreme pullback may cause you to need different wires/cables and could even have interference problems wit the tank. If you throw a folded beach towel or similar on the tank and pull the top clamp, with a helper you can sit on the bike and hold the bars where they feel right while the helper measures the position between the bars and the OEM lower clamp position. Worst comes to worst, go conservative and if you don't like it you can buy different ones accordingly and sell the first try ones as "used". So ya lose $50 or less, won't be the most expensive mistake we've ever made on a bike. Wink

I went back and forth about the deuce, saw the fracture thread, then need to grind off the bottom & sub the screws.  I finally bit the bullet and got the Aeromach risers.

I have those on one bike.  You won't be sorry.   Easy to put on.  (Deuce risers came on my other bike)

DO pad the tank well before loosening the OE risers, or you WILL be sorry.

Thanks Jess.  I got a nice floor foam pad that will be perfect for that.   Even though the site says up 2" and 1.5" back. They don't look that dramatic. Anyway, even a little will help and I don't think I even have to reroute the cables.

A long time ago, I did a bit of work studying the AeroMachs (and identical ones from HondaDirectLine, no longer avaiable), and various sellers, and discovered that they were not consistent in reporting rise and pullback for those risers.

But they are accurately reported as giving the most rise and pullback available without any other mods or cable rerouting necessary.  And remember, with the triple tree they sit on not flat, but angled backwards, you get a bit more pullback than just the dimension of the riser body itself.

It is unfortunate they are fancy, then practically buried under and behind my interstate fairing.  But I am sure you will be happy with them.  I had periodic shoulder pain with the OE risers (on longer rides), but never with these Aeromachs.

They also replace the OE single top clamp with individual riser clamps.

I got the Aeromach risers on and they are Beautiful and Awesome!! Because of the rake angle, the risers’ pullback is perfect. I have a Lowrider  and I’m 5’6 and shrinking so the position seems very comfortable. I’ll know more when I get to ride it. The crap you see on these is my blood not a defect.
