Have you ever noticed that GW riders/couples wear matching outfits. Some even wear bolo ties and require that they also use GRWWA safety equipment/clothing during group rides. And some chapters vote for chapter "couples of the year". Lets make sure the VRCC never gets this obcessive.

I have twice belonged to the GWRRA. Once when owning a 92 Aspencade and once when owning the Valk. Not for me! Two many awards to try for (like the Boy Scouts)too much regimentation, too much interference from the National head quarters The people in GWRRA are ok but I never went for the "uniform" and badges and stuff.
The emphasis seems to be on uniformity and "going for" the next level. Each level costs money for certificates, badges, etc.

I've already seen it. VRCC is sometimes like GWRRA with alcohol added and safety classes removed.
I was GWRRA for a while. My last meeting was when the local Patriot Guard rep addressed the chapter. When he explained the Woodsboro Baptist Church's motivation some goober jumped up taking his one opportunity to use the word "abomination".
Tow Busters sucked, too.

Now me... I am a young gun, and my only son is only 2 years old. No Grandpa worries for me for a while. At least not for a while.
I went to Cub Scouts for about 3 meetings... and was over that REAL quick. I could care less about badges... and I sinply will not let my wofe dress me.

I tried the GWRRA twice. Both times I wore cut up jeans, leather vest, tats showing, and no helmet. Boy I got alot of glares. A local winger of the other GW group said to join them, they are much more accepting. Forget the other group name, something about GW touring. Oh well, I like the groups I'm in with.

I got along alright, even though I wouldn't wear the shirt. I got the idea that GWRRA is big on racial diversity but not on any other kind.

My Uncle and Parents are members of the GWRRA and when I bought my Valk, my Uncle says, Hey now you can join the GWRRA. I told him we had our own site and kinda look down on you wings. Just jerking his chain. PS - He's probably reading this as he lurks here.

Huh? ??? Sure, at both events people ride or trailer to a hotel and hang out. Couples have matching shirts and vests in both groups. GWRRA events are officially non-alcoholic whereas special brews and distillations are created for VRCC events. GWRRA "levels" and badges have much to do with safety and rider education. When I first rode with them I went helmet-less and it was like having 30 mother hens constantly fretting over me. There's no point in saying "don't judge me" if you are not taking maximum precaution to avoid head injury, it's too late. On the other hand, I never have figured out why those clown pants they favor are more roadworthy than jeans.

I was in GWRRA for about 10 years back in the 80's. It was ok, the matching outfits were coming into fashion back then along with the one piece riding suits. Made you look like a skydiver. If you look at these people that get into GWRRA they most likely are retired and the kids are gone and they need something to center their life around. Does not bother me. I am finding out more and more the goldwing guys tend to stay to themselfs. Good group of people always friendly.

Ah, hell, they's having their fun and they enjoy it. Isn't that what it's all about? I kinda dig some of their uniforms, matching jackets, pins, bolo ties. helmets, Culver's/DQ/Ice cream stand discount cards, stuffed animals on the trunk rack, LED's everywhere, swooshing noise as they go by, etc, etc, etc. Why, it's kinda cool! D@mmit woman! I said Scotch, not KOOLAID!!!! Oops, disregard what I said...... Bring on the HOOPLA! (Only uniform I need is for BOTS....) By the way, Fudgie, you'd look good in spandex LOL
