IF it's any help the bags are made of A B S plastic. Black A B S hardening glue is what I used to repair mine. RIDE SAFE.

Custom paint job. Color match. Not cheap. Maybe just leave it, since you don't see it while riding, and the bike is almost 20 years old. Wait till you need more done (either pieces or a cracked bag).

I'm SOO UPSET WITH MYSELF FOR DOING THIS!! It made me sick! The first ding no matter how careful you are or how small it is is always the worst, right?? I'm a little ocd with my bikes. I CALLED MANY SHOPS,They WONT DO IT.. I've got a lead on a couple custom bike and paint shops who would do it and we have a auto paint warehouse that can match perfect from paint code, but your right it may cost a little, Ill take her down and check it out, Happy Birthday to my daughter!! Thank you everyone.

I think a whole lot of body shops are set up to do
insurance repairs, they stick to that as a business
model.

Around here (SC) you could probably find someone
to do a decent job for $300-$500, and the little dab
of good paint will cost a bunch. OEM pinstripes are
decals, if you have to get a pinstripe, the painter will
probably prefer to just paint the pinstripe on...

As O2S said , ABS plastic glue (black) and only ABS plastic glue for the repairs. Bondo will not stick and JB weld is hard to sand down. Improper prep work will lead to a failure down the road.

Well, how about buying a used correct color bag? It's only one, you don't need everything, and they do come up for sale from time-to-time. Maybe $150-$250. Would be cheaper than repairing the bag and getting it painted.

Location of scratch???? Size of scratch???? Small, big, long, short????? Is it possible a small mural will cover up? A matching mural on both sides may cover scratch, would be much, much less expensive, and would add personal touch to yur scoot!  A small piece of chrome estchlon bling, with matching on other side? Pin striping cover up??  Sumtin to think about!!

Danny, I like those options and will think about them. Really wanted to keep it original but..., haven't  taken  her down to the specialty paint shop yet. Scratch is on the passenger side hard bag, about a inch square, on main part of hard case in the middle with another smaller one on top of the  lid area just above it, both are only in the green paint colors, no pin striping got tagged nor is it cracked at all or very deep, more of like 2 SCUFFS?? still very bothersome to a ocd guy like me...

How about reflectors on both sides? Safety and you get to cover the scratch.

uh... Which one is the passenger side ? From the description you give I'm sure you can get it painted relatively cheap. The problem is finding someone willing to do it. Usually shops want big jobs. Probably going to have to find an independent or hobbyist painter. Keep looking.

Good luck with it, but a "coverup" may be the best and least expensive way to deal with your injury! Find yourself a good pinstriper  or muralist at a scooter rally, and get a little bling while hiding your misfortune. Get your ideas together; maybe a little design in the same red as your pinstripe, and add a little something similar somewhere up front to tie it all together. Pictures would be interesting, and keep us posted!

Dude ! I haven't thought about Ken's in years.  cooldude Are you talking about the guy who chainsaws bears and fish and stuff ? I don't know him personally. I haven't lived there for 15 years. But we are going up next July for a couple weeks. Do you fish on the boardwalk because of the easy access ? There are less crowded places I could hook you up with. Well at least 30 years ago there were. I still have family there also. Sadly some have passed on and some have moved. I grew up in Anchorage, lived in Kenai for 15 years. Met and married my wife there. Her family is all still in Kenai.

We have relatives that work at kens, which is THE go to tackle shop right by the bridge, boardwalk and parking lot.. Relatives all really live in Soldotna, "he's" an ice road trucker, and  haul road driver out of Fairbanks, Kenai...CRAZY!!! not me!!! Fishing off the boardwalk is for ease of access mostly and its 15 min from "home"., But with 360,000  reds going up in one day you really cant miss right? We limited out in probably 30 min!! and of course fishing 24hrs a day is weird and it never really gets dark, mid July. Tons of fun,,, if WE were natives of AK,,, well.....  you can catch more fish then you can imagine as you well know...I do like the reflector cover up idea to ponder too,,,still VERY upset I did such a stupid thing to my beautiful bike.... AAAHHH. I could hardly face her after I did this,,, she is alive you know...ill re-adress the situation tomorrow,, thanks for all the ideas.. Be sure your in Kenai, Soldotna around July 10, 15th week for the reds run.....
