Has anyone here ever painted a set of hard saddlebags? I have a 1998 GL1500 that's "Pearl Coronado Blue and "Pearl Ivory Cream" color.  I recently acquired a set of hard saddle bags off a 1998 Valk Tourer that I'd like to put on my bike. The only problem is that the bags are "Sedona Red" and "Pearl Ivory Cream." Although I'm color blind and don't care much about colors, my wife has suggested that the red bags might not look good on my blue Valk. So, I'm considering painting the red bags so they match my blue Valk. Has anyone here ever painted saddlebags? Or recommendations for a paint shop in NJ-NY-Penna area?  Thanks... any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

There is another thread right now going on, on fixing a scratch on their bag. Same problem. Finding some one who will even do the job. It's expensive. There is a lot in the past on this too, search is your friend.

Personally, look into all the different colors of the plastic dip spray paint. These are coatings, that cover the work and can be peeled off later. DIY and if you don't like how it looks, then peel it off and try again.

You could also look at bringing them to a shop that will do the job, either the paint or plastic wrap, they are popping up everywhere here for cars. I added some wrap to my black/red IS trunk, to cover the red, since I mounted it on my black/cream ACE Tourer.

I'm not entirely certain of the fascination with automobile painters.  In my area there are a large number of sportbike riders who like to have their machines custom painted.  I used a very good bike painter to paint my wife's hard bags.  He charged me $200 each and did the side covers for no additional.  I've actually used him for several sets of bags and a trunk.  I like his work but I'm a long way from you.
