As a couple of you know (because I called for help 2funny) I was riding today and about 600 miles from home, all was fine at hwy speed then stopped for gas and as I was pulling up to the pump I heard and felt a pop-pop-pop  Undecided first thing I thought was a bad U joint, well I was able to find Bobs # and called him to see if he may be of some help. Talked with Dennis aka Troudude first and he asked about wheel bearings and I said all,was fine when tire was replaced about 5k ago. Then Bob also suspected a wheel bearing he told me he was not home but would be in an hour or so and he thought he had a set. I was about 2 hrs from his home and I said I am heading your way at least we can get it on a lift and have a look see coolsmiley so about half way there I pull over to put his address in my phone to show me the way and I had a text from him saying call me Lips Sealed ( by this time she was making all kinds of racket  Shocked Wasnt sure I would make it but did)he said he didn't have any and his local dealer only had one Cry then he said a local bearing guy had some Smiley well he goes to the bearing guy and he only had one Angry but we were in luck it was the opposite of the one the dealer had ??? So he travels to both dealer and bearing guy and gets them for me and we tore the ass end off the phat Gurl and bearing had seized into the wheel tickedoff tickedoff well after a small cutting wheel and some surgeon like precision voala out she came cooldude and while the new ones were freezing we and our wives went and had some BBQ.  Roll Eyes came back and got her ass back in order ( the phat girl not the wife 2funny) and I am back in business  Cool my trip was saved and only one day behind Wink Bob is Good people and has a cool haircut 2funny THANKS BOB for helping a rider in need :coolsmiley:p

There is nothing like the Goldwing Gold book, other than our active forum, where you can post for Help and up it comes, from sources known and unknown.

A lovely place to hang.

Glad it worked out, and what was thought to be the problem, it was.

Just had the rear wheel off for service, and took a hard look at those bearings. They're original. Having them die out on the highway is just not acceptable. Gonna take the wheel off again and do that extra step. Don't want to go through what you did. No Bob around here.

If Bob doesn't have a new part, he probably has a serviceable part on hand.  He's not called "attic rat"
for nothing.  His work is the most meticulous of anyone that I have seen.  He has been a good friend and a wealth of Valkyrie knowledge for a few years now.  I feel fortunate to know him...Jim Smiley
