The group of people that I have been riding with lately all have
CB radio to communicate with.

My '98 Valk Tourer is the only one without CB.

Has any one else put a discrete CB on their bare bones Tourer?

Could you tell me exactly what hardware you used, where you mounted
the antenna and, did you balance/remove the SWR.

Some pics would help.  Thanks

J&M makes a handlebar mounted CB. You can get a headset in your helmet and plug in an MP3 player for tunes while riding.

Excellent bang for the buck. J&M

Put one on Joanne's VStar last March and for $500.00 less performs much better then my HondaLine Clarion [which has been SWR calibrated].
Her J & M transmitts at least .75 miles more then mine and that's in an urban area [Chicago suburb].
+ you can plug MP3 tunes into the J&M to your headset.

Fit, finish & function is outstanding. They have everything you'll need including a mount.

Anybody try a handheld with the Mic/Speaker cord clipped to the jacket collar or the like?

I use a Cobra handheld CB (removable) with a no ground plane antenna (semi-)permanently attached to the back of my bike.  The radio is piped through an IMC Electronics intercom system MIT-100, which provides the PTT button, helmet speakers & mike, etc.  I fabbed the aluminum bracket for the radio on the windshield and the stainless bracket for the antenna.  The photos are before I connected the NGP antenna and had the SWR tuned by a local CB shop.

See the link below the photo for more details.

Blondie has had a JMCB2003 on her Tourer since we bought the bike last year, and the radio was used on her 'Wing for several years prior. We both like that setup.

I have a J&M 2003 on my 1999 tourer and I love it. I bought mine off www.sierra-mc.com I paid $349 for the solo cb unit, handlebar mount and a 3' antenna. That also includes free shipping.
