I can't believe the search engine returns nothing on this.

I have removed the tank labels before.  No problem.  Empty the gas, warm the labels with a heat gun and gently remove them with a plastic edge.  Soak the adhesive overnight with a rag soaked with WD40, and the adhesive wipes off.

Worked on Deerslayer and Jade.  Now I'm doing that to another bike and the adhesive WILL NOT wipe off. So I tried the mild citrus solution Goof Off - soaked it again for hours with a microfiber cloth wetted with it.  No help. Used the Pro Strength Goof Off (strong solvent smell) after testing it on the paint below the seat. No Help.  Tried the citrus automotive Goo Gone.  Seems to work slightly better but only a little. The goo is still there.  Got pissed and busted out the acetone.  STILL NO GOOD.  WTF?

Any suggestions for removing the adhesive?

Hmmmmm. I haven't done it on a Valkyrie but I've used monofiliment fishing line to pull off trim on other vehicles.

I promise....Ronsenol Lighter Fluid.  Squirt it on a soft rag and quickly rub, the glue will jump off the tank.

That's a good one I'll make a note.

Meanwhile I went to youtube and watched several videos.  A Brit guy working on a Hyabusa said remove the label with the help of a hair dryer - I used a heat gun - carefully they get over 1000°.  Then use gasoline as the solvent - not gonna hurt the paint it's made for gas spills.  OK that makes sense.  Said just go slow, don't scrub hard just light wiping be patient.  OK I tried that with a microfiber cloth.  Found it needs to be really wet and let the gas soak in and work.  Took about 15 minutes and all the adhesive is gone. No damage to the paint.  Now a coat of wax and a buff and it's good as new sans labels.
