Has anyone ever built a twin engine Valkyrie? RUss Collins used to race Twin 750s and even built a triple engine drag bike in the 70s. It seems to me that the Valkyrie engine is a perfect candidate to build a flat 12. The trans could be removed from the front engine and a gimler belt used to attach the rear of the front engine to the front of the crankshaft on the rear engine. You would only need the rear trans and all the other ancillary issues. Any thoughts?

You would most likely need a separate tranny, not sure the OEM version would take the abuse of two Valk motors. I wonder if even the output shaft on the rear engine could handle what two would put out. Instead of in tandem, I'd be more inclined to stack them with enough separation to allow for remote induction. If I ever win the lotto, I'd love to build one.  |

As a drag bike, using a V8 engine allows more options for increased hp. 2 Valkyrie engines in any configuration would be a massive undertaking that would not yield the increase in power that you are expecting. When you put twin 100 hp outboards on a boat, you don't get 200 hp you get 100 hp with double the torque.  |

We had a GMC tractor truck on the farm back in the 70's we called the "Buzzing Dozen".
It was two V6 engines coupled together with a power take off sprocket in the center where the crankshafts were joined.
It didn't work very well.

Yeah Steel but just think of the fun of trying to do it. Actually I'd be more inclined to build an oversized trike or maybe a reverse trike. You could work part time as a tow vehicle.  |

A trike option is more of my thinking for a Valkyrie mod. Or better yet a mid engine trike with the seat forward of the engine. I'm not retired yet but I've been busy thinking of what to do after retirement and chasing my dreams.  |

You are not the only one thinking about that. In our street rod club , there was a car set up with two 350 Chevy engines. A link between the two. I have often thought about it. I am still interested.

All ya gotta do is get it shoe-horned into a bike frame, then get the power
to a rear wheel.

I actually talked to a guy here in San Diego that builds subie powered dune buggies about this very thing awhile back. He was interested in trying it. A 2.0 or 2.5 Subaru motor is not a whole lot bigger than our valk engine. 200 horse power easily and 300 with a turbo. But, alas I still want to be married.... |

I like the idea of a subie in a motorcycle, but I think the Flat 12 would be a lot of fun to build. I am not looking at it from a performance stand point as I already drag race a mustang as well as my Valkyrie that has 2 step N2O system.

If you're gonna go that far you might as well use a BIGGER flat 6 --> Piper Cherokee 235 with an IO 540 airplane engine (my 1st flat 6) . However, it was in my airplane NOT on a stand   |
