I/S trunk rack: rubber mounts
«

Dear friends
The rubber mounts at the base of the trunk rack in my I/S are all dried and cracked. For a few pictures:

Anyone know where I could order new ones?
Best regards

I purchased washers that have a rubber backing on one side at Home Depot. They are used on metal roofs when you drive the screw in to water proof the hole. I have them on my trunk side rails. Or you can purchase rubber or fiber washers at any hardware store, to replace your worn out ones.

You can also get something called Star washers. In any case, get them bigger than the foot of the rack, it spreads the weight and lessens the chance of cracking the lid. I use some that are an inch or slightly bigger and they come with a rubber washer.

You mean something like:
https://www.amazon.com/Show-Chrome-Accessories-4-231R-4-Washer/dp/B00HYYNRRS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1477004121&sr=8-2&keywords=star+washers+with+rubber
It says that it is for 1/4" holes, would it be a nice fit for the I/S trunk rack?

Any plumbing supply has both rubber and nylon washers of all sizes with holes of all sizes.

LOL! It seems that those washers are specifically for trunk racks!

Nope, I also have them under the Wind Wings on my radiator pods as well as on my trunk. I only mount the trunk for traveling and the rack is rather small but functional. It's better to go small on trunk racks but most riders don't, then load them down too much.
