I had a friend who pulled a Dynatek ignition and 6 degree of a Valkyrie that was totalled. He sent then to me free of charge and I'm trying to figure out what settings to start with. Bike is stock, but I have Supertrapp exhaust on the way. I was gonna use Tim Skelton's site to figure out my baseline but it seems to have died now. If anybody has the information from there I would appreciate it. Right now I'm thinking that a 6 degree wheel, and the Dynatek set of 7, and grounded for 10 degrees retard would be the best setting. This gives a good, quick climbing curve and should level off at 26 degrees total timing. Does anybody have input on where to start? Should I skip the wheel and just use the ignition and set it on curve 8? That should give a lot of quick advance down low and levels off at 26 degrees for top end power. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

scroll down to Dyna 3000
http://www.dynatekuk.com/downloads.html

use this one "1997-2002 Jpmda Valkyrie 1500 Installation & Tuning Instructions" which has the correct curve charts.

I have the same setup. I use Curve 7 for max advance at speeds over 2k rpm (under it will have detonation).
this is with the 10 degrees added. shut off the 10 degrees and it will have basically same curve as I/S icm and will limit max advance to about 25-26 degrees for max HP.
I have a switch on left handle bar for easy quick operation.

see pics of how I installed Dyna without the rubber boot. It needs to stay cool, side screws are for installing a bracket.

I ran the Dyna 3000 and 6 degree trigger wheel   w/o anything else---the bottom end was impressive but w/o the retard stuff at some 50-60 mph the timing starts to be too advanced--I couldn't hear it ping but the gas mileage was cut in half at 80 mph--I got only 50-60 miles a tank--I guess I was lucky I didn't burn my pistons up...run the Dyna alone is my advice...I am putting my reservation in for the Attic Rats  massage...

at part throttle more ignition advance is needed. The GL1500 has a vacuum advance feature with the advance in the 40s more than the 6TW and dyna can provide. if u were getting poor mpg something else was incorrect.
