Anyone use Rain-X on their helmet face shield?  I have been told by several people  not to use it on plastic and especially not on the face shield of a motorcycle helmet.  I had an old tinted shoei face shield that I was going to throw away so I thought ....what the heck, I'll test it.  I put on three coats of Rain-X, letting it dry between coats, then wiped it off.  No visible damage to the plastic.
Should I have been using this all along or does it cause damage over time??  I am afraid to even try it on the windshield of my tourer!

Well, it has been posted here many times over the years not to use it on the windshield.  I can't remember why.  I think it has something to do with the coating on the Hondaline shields. ???  Hopefully someone who is more informed will set the record straight.
I use Rain X on my car w/s.  I can drive the speed limit in a down pour when everyone else is slowing down or pulled off the highway...and my wipers aren't on. Cheesy

DO NOT I repete! DO NOT use rain x on any plastic!!!!! I used it on a harley windsheild for a while, did'nt notice any thing wrong, after a year it turned yellow, then foggy looking, had to replace it. no longer have the harley, I've replaced my valkyrie windshield one time in eleven years..only use plexus and honda cleaner and polish now.         my  two cents              Bogator

There is a Marine Rain-X that is approved for plastic.  Hard to find.  Try bigger boat shops.

What about "turtle wax ICE".  I had a guy spray that stuff on my windshield and it cleaned off dead bugs without an effort.

Read about using "Pledge" several years ago in Motorcyle Consumer News. Had a new windshield so I gave it a try, been using it ever since (over 15 years now). It works great! Once used bugs come off very easily, no streaks, good rain run-off. My windshield is perfectly clear and again very easy to clean. I have had many of my friends try this and everyone one of them have stayed with it.

Interesting.Do you use it to do your whole bike.It would sure seem like you could do so (if you don't mind smelling like a lemon tree).
