Was looking at a new Wing today at the local dealer. Maybe when I get older (64 now).
My stimulus package only allows me to look-not buy.
I did notice that it comes stock with the bar end weights to dampen vibration. Also noticed most BMW's have them.
Anybody try them on a Valk?
Worth the effort? Source to fit?

First off:  Bar end vibration dampers are totally unnecessary on a Valk.  There ARE NO VIBS to "dampen" on a Valk! .  Plus. I had Throttle miester (heavy bar end throttle controller) that were also supposed to dampen vibs.  They CREATED vibs!  After installation I could feel every little crack etc in the roadway.  Plus: they were very inconvient to use.  I took them off.  They were a big waste of $,  both as vibratiion dampers and as a throttle contoller.  IMHO

The front end on my Valkyrie is rock solid.  If yours feels like it needs something to dampen vibration, something is wrong. 

My dealer told me the reason the weights are on the 'wing is because the bars are not full bars, but clip-ons.  I suspect they are also there to address the steering wobble inherent in the GL1800.

I ride a Moto Guzzi in addition to my Valkyrie. Let me assure you, bar end weights are not needed for a Valkyrie. At least that's how I feel whenever I get off my Guzzi and on the Valk.  Wink

makes sense they are on a Wing since their bars are different

I doubt weighting the GW's bar ends would help a steering wobble at all.
That would be too easy a fix. Even if it could at the least reduce the wobble it's the wrong mentality to consider repairing or covering any handling issues. Fix the source of a problem!
Other then correcting a genuine source of handling issues disguessing one enough that you can't sense it until it rears its ugly head at climax and, surprise, takes you down before your aware there's an issue is a serious problem.

I agree 100%.  And, I said address, not repair.  I've read the boards, heard others talk, spoken to the dealer, spoken to Traxxion, and everyone except Honda and their dealers acknowledge a problem.  Lots of fixes, but no true repair, and the "official stance" I've received from the dealer is "What are you doing taking your hands off the grips anyway?"
