We are home from NC and the weather could have not been better, fingerless gloves 90% of the time and the color change was everywhere! The 1800 well exceeded my wildest expectations.
A special thanks to Greg and Sandy for having us up to your beautiful place and to Greg who took us on numerous rides that were all beautiful. We enjoyed the stars at night and a camp fire. We took nightly walks around the area and got a good feel for the boundaries of their land.
A special thanks to a Todd and Pennie for having us up to your beautiful place and the wild adventures as well. Pennie and Michelle took Sherry shopping and Bob lead us on a very spirited ride on rt209, now get this, I was on a KLR 650! The last time I was on one of those was 2004 in Colorado! Bob knew he could not slap the smile off my face! It felt so good to ride a dual sport again and constant shifting in the curves made me feel alive. Later in the day all of us took three different four wheelers up to the top of some of the mountains surrounding their home. Two Kawasaki Mules and one John Deer Gator. That was a total blast. All we can say is WOW! Pictures will come later.

Looks like you guys had a great time, and the colors were really nice Nice slide show and the four wheelers looked like fun. Also liked your vehicle of choice for hauling your bike.

Thanks for sharing your pictures Jerry and Sherry. Looks like y'all were above the treeline up around the big rock. Greg and Sandy have a beautiful place there. I assume that was a selfie stick with the pictures on the bike or someone has really long arms.

Yep, the selfie stick was a whopping $4.65 purchase at Wally using our old iPhone we no longer use, that still works on wifi only. Could not see the new phones on the stick for fear of loosing it. It worked well.

Some great pics, makes me wish we could still travel during this time when the leaves start to change. I noticed one thing in the pic of the bike tied down for travel. It appears part of the tie down was connected to the handlebars, couldn't tell for certain but is a big no-no if the bars are clamped in place like our older Valks are. Regardless, I'm still jealous.

Well at least I made it this far in life. Yes, me too! Kinda like running out of gas; "doing fantastic.....so far!" My comment is based on personal experience and observation, falls in the category of an ounce of prevention, etc. If the bars are tied down near the center on the flat center section, obviously there's less of a problem. But tied down anywhere else on the bars, i.e., the farther out the more dangerous due to leverage. Back in the mid-90's my wife and I were towing our Wing out to N. Mexico to meet up with some friends in the mountains. Somewhere west of Dallas we ran up on a guy picking up pieces of busted saddlebags and other parts on his big Yamaha. He had it tied down via those sleeve like things some riders slip over the end of the bars and tie down. In back he only had one strap running around a trailer hitch on the bike. We ran across some road construction where one lane was built up with new surfacing and when you hit it the bump was quite pronounced. His comment was similar: "I've done it this way my whole life, why now?" My response was "because you were lucky....so far."
