Rod, you might consider a Tourmaster. I like mine a lot and the price is reasonable. Has liners for rain and one for cooler weather, breathes well in the heat.

Rod, for where you live and the bike you have...I/S, a mesh jacket with rain liner might be your best bet. Chillerman is right, the Tourmaster is quite versatile. A lot of the other textile jackets have zippered vents in the upper arms and back. But sitting behind the fairing doesn't allow much air to hit your upper arms for those vents to do much good. A mesh jacket with the liner in would block the wind and what you would consider colder temps should keep you warm. You could also wear a crew neck sweatshirt under it. Just type Joe Rocket Jacket into Google and you will have plenty of options.

No, it doesn't come with Pinky She is only six and I take her around the block. Can't wait till she can go on some longer rides with me. The jacket is very versatile, but there are other options out there as well. Good luck

Hotrod, I just bught a jacket with the padding from www.leatherup.com They have leathers, armored, mesh and textile type. I admit I am a cheap smack so I thought I would give them a try due to their cheap (and I mean CHEAP) prices. I bought the following http://www.leatherup.com/p/Mens-Motorcycle-Jackets/Mens-Black-and-Grey-Armored-Motorcycle-Tri-Tex%E2%84%A2-Fabric-Jackets/41436.htmlSo far I think it is great without the liner and the vents open it is cool, with the liner in it is very warm, so far I have only worn it down to 45degrees., but I had no problem with the temp. WARNING: read the feedback, order at least one or two larger than you normally wear. I normally wear a 2X I ordered a 3X and I sent it back for a 5X and it fits perfect. They worked out the return without any problems at all. Within a week I had the second coat at my door, great customer service. Jim

Is there a textile jacket out there at a reasonable price that is true to size? I normally wear a 3x or 4x and none of the 5x jackets I have tried even come close. They have all been made very small to size.

TP, this is my third try at answering your question,
Don't forget that they only get 100+ for a few months. The other 8-9 months they have perfect riding temps for a black jacket with a removable liner. 50's and 60's and 70's in the am and 60's, 70's and 80's in the afternoons. You and I living in the frozen north can only dream of riding that long with temp's like that.
In fact, I am heading to Phoenix after Christmas for 3 weeks, and I'm bringing my bike to take advantage of the weather while I'm there.

Might want to take a looksie here. http://motodirect.com/category-1/17_18-Mesh-Motorcycle-Jackets.html This place has them from $60.00 to several hundred dollars. They also have textile and leather. If your heat is like mine, not too many days for jacket use. I can count mine on one hand. If you don't want to spend the bucks for the Tourmaster, some here may be an alternative for you. Happy Hunting

Rod my opinon would be to buy one of the mesh closeout jackets. They're all about the same in design and features. New enough has them for 50 to $80 all the time. http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/first_gear/firstgear_mesh_tex_motorcycle_jacket.htmlThen buy you a good heavier Joe Rocket, Icon, Tourmaster whomever you like best jacket and use it in cold weather. Get a closeout mesh for that pretty daughter of yours too. I wear my black mesh in 105 degrees. If you're moving it's tolerable. If you're parked at a light as you know, a Tshirt is hot too. Raymond

Rod, I have the Tourmaster Coaster II and it gets worn most of the time. Full leather plus armor, but it has two zippers from shoulders to waist down the back, so I can (and do) wear it up to 85 degs or so. And zipped up with the liner in (and a windproof neck gaiter) I have worn it down into the teens on my winter commutes. I have the Fieldsheer High Temp somebody mentioned above, and an Icon Hero full leather. Both get little use except at the extremes. I think I only wore the High Temp once or twice this summer here in DC (granted it was fairly mild for DC). http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/catalog/Coaster-II-Leather-Jacket-p-62_5.htmlDon't know that you'll get a super deal on one anywhere, but it has been worth the $220 I paid for it.

Here's my thoughts on this. In VA summer muggy heat, only a full mesh is tollerable. Remember when looking at mesh jackets, some are full and some are partial; partial is a waste of time. You can get full mesh (with no liners) on sale or closeout for around $75 (my NewEnough Technic was $50). Also, in full mesh for full heat, only light colors make any sense (my Technic is white and silver). I would not spend extra for liners, either insulation or rain or both for a full mesh (you still have rain gear).
I also have the Tourmaster Pivot (black). This is the best all purpose jacket I have. Fully waterproof, multiple vents, and an insulated liner which makes the jacket as warm as anything you can get. But above 75, it is too hot even with all the vents open. So then it is time for full mesh with no liners of any kind.
So my point is using the right tool for the tight job. Trying to make mesh into a cold/cool weather jacket with liners is not satisfactory.

I'd have to agree with Raymond and Jess. I've looked and, especially for riding behind a windshield or fairing, they just do not make a good do-it-all jacket. When hot, a full mesh jacket is the best. I have a Firstgear Mesh Tex and really like it, but it is just too cold when the temps drop. So I have been looking at getting a Firstgear Kilimanjaro for colder temps. I plan to buy it a size big to have room to layer up when needed. For now, I have a leather jacket...which really isn't that warm even with the liner in it.

These guys ship fast. I got something from them for my wife that didn't fit, and found that they are also easy to deal with after the sale... http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/mesh_jackets_and_pants/joe_rocket/phoenix_5_mesh_motorcycle_jacket.htmlThe liner is good in the rain. Without the liner it is hot in the jacket when it's 98 outside, but "tolerable"... I dress in layers in the winter, and move on to heated past that, but I wear my Joe Rocket year around with comfort. -Mike

I got some jackets! But, with all the choices I do have, it's mighty hard not to grab my fav---Cortech Denim jacket and pants. They have ce approved pads and several zip up vent ports and the material seems to breathe really well, even in hot weather-both pants and jacket. They look and fit nice-nice enough where you sort of blend in when on foot.

I recently purchased a Tourmaster CorTech GX Sport Series 2 jacket. I am completely pleased with it. Mid-weight all weather jacket. Comfortable. Good ventilation. Is designed and cut for the sport bike crowd. Doesn't look real super cool on a cruiser type of ride, but once you're on the road, who cares. I'm completely satisfied with the quality, fit, function and comfort. A lot of jacket for not a lot of money. I have Joe Rocket mesh jacket for the hot weather. A Joe Rocket Ballistic series for the short haul on fair weather days. My combat touring jacket is a Aerostitch Darien. Not to stylish for the short haul, but can't be beat for total function on the long haul. A leather jacket when I feel like style'n. Ymmv, sheets
