Question for you 4 wheel Gear Heads

Friends,
I have a question for those of you who may have some experience working on cages. I need to find and install a set of hand controls for my wife so she can maintain her freedom and mobility. We're looking on Flea Bay for used controls and have a couple of questions:
Does any brand stand out above the rest?
If I have a choice, should I go with a model designed for a specific car, or do the "Universal" models really work? I've always been of the opinion that "universal" was short for Universal problems mounting, not just for this, but most things in life.
What about when the non-handicapped partner tries to use the vehicle? Any issues there?
Any other suggestions or comments that I may have missed?
Oh, My wife rides the Valk with Me, so now its Valk related!
TIA

I have some very limited info but I didn't want this to go empty. First of all the controls that I have worked on most are really mounted permanently in the vehicle. The vehicle can be operated normally in most circumstances with a little adjustment of controls. This is all conditional on the type of control and whats actually needed its pretty much custom so each has a different need and the the same goes for the design. I have seen hand levers used in place of foot pedals that swing away when not in use. Some modern cars use a fly by wire system so depending on your need and pocket book maybe some manufactures have designed systems for these type of cars. With these the possibilities can be endless. The gas could be a twist grip on the wheel we already have paddle shifters in some cars and the brakes could be a lever or anything you could squeeze. Like I said I don't know whats available but I do know whats possible.

try this site , may be helpful. We put one in a buddys chevy after an accident rendered his legs useless for a few months. You can get left or right hand controls
