Did what I said I would not do and that was ride to work.  Nice day and left work at 10p so that was nice as well however this is like the third time I have sputtered and switched to reserve while on this my third 1500, the highest I switched the pingle to reserve is 108 miles and tonight I started to sputter at 96!!! I don't get it. She runs great as my other 1500s. Oh well that was my rant for the night.

I can usually get 130 out of my Tourer, before hitting reserve.

Precisely, and Nick I think is slightly better than that. maybe I will just monitor the gas mileage and see what I am getting.

Jerry,. You have something off...air/fuel mixture maybe or some kind of tank venting issue.  My '97 has never been the high gas mileage winner when riding with others.  The best I get is 36 mpg or so.  However, I easily go over150 miles on a tank before the Pingel needs go be switched to reserve.

I am also running a K&N, stock jets

My lowest was 118 my highest was 135. I usually get 32 mpg, I did get 40.6 once by shifting just under 3000rpm's and staying at 3000 rpm's in 5th. Top speed around 63 mph, very hard for me to do but if you want better mileage you have to give up a lot of the fun the Valkyrie offers cooldude

Sherry and I just got back from a great food run to a new place in Mulberry called Dwane's place.  Actually it is in Lakeland were we met a huge group from Wauchula, all but 2 were on wings.  Nice friendly bunch with much drooling over a 1500 Valk that some admitted they used to own.  Great to find some of our old stompin roads and enjoy a nice slow ride just Sherry and I.

Note: slow easy riding about 120 miles and I got 30.7 Mpg.   She runs and acts happy though sucking the drink.  But something is off for sure.

On the Veterans ride, I did something different on my Interstate. I filled up with premium. I got a whopping 46 miles to the gallon. did not believe it so I did the math over and over, yep, 46 MPG. Then topped it off with 87 and it dropped down to 41 MPG.  Mixed fuel and all.  then back to premium and it jumped back up to 43 MPG,(mixed), again.  Then I got curious and figured out the cost of using premium vs 85 and it turns out that it costs the same per mile.  The up side, it runs better, gets more MPG pr tank full.   Before I start preaching on this, I think I may do a very accurate test on this just to check out all my results. Anyhow, just a thought to getting more MPG out of your tourers.  Wink

I also run a K&N Filter. It all depends on the wrist for me, I have gone over 150 miles without hitting reserve if I keep it below 3000 rpm's, but that don't happen much  crazy2

I too find that using mid grade over regular gives me a little better mileage.  However it ends there for me.  When I go to premium there does not seem to be another increase.  I too (although never actually figured it out mathematically) believe its the same cost per mile, just longer on a tank.

Another difference is I never get any numbers that start with a 4.  35-37 is my normal if not flying, pulling the trailer or fighting a nasty headwind.

But for Jerry's problem, I had wondered if it was low fuel mileage or just a tank issue.  Since its answered now that its low mileage, Im leaning toward the carburetors.  Either someone rejetted with larger jets or the mixture is off (or both) would be my first guess

You were 2 up today so that will make a difference. I was thinking about my best and I believe it was 145 not 135, also the time I got 40.6 mpg I had non ethanol, that might have made a difference.

WGAS,    If  I got 20 mpg I would still be thrilled with my Gurl  cooldude Like my V10 1Ton Ford 4X4, it gets 10mpg, but it works for a living so who cares. The last Vehicle I had that got any kind of mileage was a Fiat Spyder Convertible, and that was back in 1975 Grin

I owned Big Buicks, Eldorado's, Trucks, Hot Rod's with Big Blocks etc...I am over the whole MPG thing.

That's All I Have To Say About That !!  crazy2

I will start the bidding at $250 only because its easy on the eyes. But with carb problems, and oil coming out of who knows where I think it's a fair offer for a POS Grin

We went over to treasure island yesterday then over to bass pro shop and then home. Steve & Coleen on their goldwing went with us. We were on the suncoast on the way there doing about 75 mph and we took 75 on the way home doing about 70 mph. We got back with a 1/4 tank on the fuel gauge. About 35 mpg. I checked the air in my tires before the ride and they had both fallen to 35 psi so I filled them up to 42 in the back 40 in front. Bass pro shop had some great deals, gun holsters for $14 dollars and soft gun cases for $10. My new Glock 23 will have a comfy nest. Great prices on long sleeve shirts and pull overs with inner lining material that wicks the moister off your skin $29.
