Nova Scotia questions

I am thing of a ride to Nova Scotia next summer and wonder what is the better months to ride there.

Also I think I may ride up and take the Ferry back,  thought from those that have done it ?????

What they call summer. July/August
There are several ferrys. All seem to be nice, I have only used the one from Digby to St John's in Canada.
It was an excellent ferry, with no problems, about 4+ hours.

We've been up in Cape Breton in June with beautiful weather in the 30's. We took the Cat back from Yarmouth to Portland this past summer and it was a great ride. Very comfortable. There is a couple of Americade type get togethers in the summer on NS and New Brunswick.

We found the roads in NS to be a mix of good & not-so good conditions.  Main roads were generally good condition.

We drove up through Maine to NB & used Terry's suggestions for touring Maine.

We've been up there three times and are talking about going to Newfoundland this coming summer

Dan... Be SURE to start out with NEW tires. Many of the roads are very hard on tires. Take the Lighthouse route. It is beautiful. Peggy's Cove is a must - just beautiful. Judy and I have ridden that route twice and loved it.

I did it in late July 2007. We stayed in Bah Habah and took the cat over on Monday morning. We also did the Light House part way and went to Halifax HD for tee shirts. Went across to the Bay of Fundy and up to Amherst. Came back through NS and Maine back to Bah Habah. Really nice ride with little or no traffic. At times we just stopped on the rode for a 1/2 hour break and didn't see 1 car. I agree some of the roads sucked. ALSO if you see a gas station top off. Some stations are very far apart and some only have regular gas. ENJOY

Meat Cove is an experience you won't forget. 

Not sure what you have planned for accomodations but on one trip we followed Brett's suggestions and they were great.

The miners museum in Glace bay is a great take in and amazing.

If you can, spend at least, lunch at the Keltic lodge in Ingonish.

Saw this video and immediately added CB Island to my bucket list. Looks really nice ... if anyone from NY or CT is riding up this summer and is looking for some riding partners let me know. I have a few friends that are interested as well.  July/August works for us.

Agreed!  A motorcycle trip to Nova Scotia is not complete without riding the Cabot Trail.  It's definitely the highlight of the trip.  It's the Pacific Coast Highway of the East Coast.

You should also check out the tides in Truro.  As the tides rush in from the Bay of Fundy it forces the Salmon River to flow backwards creating a tidal bore.  Happens twice a day

Peggy's Cove is beautiful and the Swissair memorial site of the crash of 111 is humbling

Meat Cove is a must but beware of the rocky road that gets a bit greasy at times if wet.  The view is great and it's a good place to just set and contemplate your navel.

Cape Breton and the trail is a must but watch out for moose especially at dusk / dawn.  The last two times I was there the fuel was poor along the way and was basically Canadian whale piss.  Now that was 15+ years ago but something that definitely sticks in my mind
