Naps!  Grin   Actually, I like the marshmallow delight and cranberry sauce so loaded up on those two. I did pay homage to the sweet tater dish with nuts and brown sugar burnt in on top. We were going to go out for dinner rather than have Rita cook, even with my help it's a big job for her nowadays. My youngest daughter found out we were to be alone today so she had a friend of hers down her put in an order for a Thanksgiving meal from the Publix Deli. It included everything and was already cooked, we just had to put it in the oven for a while to totally thaw it and warm it up. It included a complete turkey already cooked, all the fixins were in reheatable containers about 6x9, included mashed taters/gravy, green bean casserole with almond slices and something else in it, dressing, sweet potato casserole, quart of cranberry sauce(chunky), quart of the marshmallow delight. My daughter's friend delivered it yesterday and it included a pumpkin pie she baked for us. I carved up the turkey, looks like we'll have stuff for sandwiches the next few days. After eating late this afternoon, I cleaned up the kitchen and with a fresh pot of coffee we cut into the pie, added some Cool Whip and sat on the front porch to enjoy the evening and chat with the neighbors that stopped by.

Frankly, I'm trying to make this year's holidays as good and memorable for both of us as possible.

I had Thanksgiving with friends this year instead of traveling to see
family, maybe for the first time... Sallie smoked a turkey, I was hesitant,
but it was real good. She also brought giblet gravy... you know, made
with hearts and livers and gizzards and stuff.

Just one of everything, but lord that was more than enough.
It took 2 plates and 1 bowl, and it was all good.

Gonna do it again this afternoon.

And like yesterday gonna not do lunch just an early large dinner.
Kinda a family tradition.

Turkey (smoked)
Dressing (cornbread)
Cranberries
Sweet potatoes with orange/coconut/marsh mellow/nuts
Mashed potatoes with real butter
Butter beans
Bread

Laurie and I started a new T'day tradition about 4 years ago. Laurie, me, Laurie's brother and sister in law go to a different restaurant each year. This year we went to World of Beer which had a traditional turkey dinner with mashed taters, stuffing, green bean casserole, biscuit and cranberry sauce. Sat outside at a table that had a great view of Lake Eola. Beautiful weather and view!

Had some pecan pie for desert. From there we went home, got on the Valk and rode to Daytona, where we're spending the weekend.
Unfortunately not able to get more helpings but the servings were adequate. That's the only drawback of not making your own turkey dinner, no leftovers.  tickedoff

Hope ya'll had a great Thanksgiving!!!

UPDATE!

Forgot to mention we are going on a dinner cruise today on the Indian River. My menu choice is of course............................................Turkey dinner!!!!!!!!!!!   cooldude  cooldude  cooldude

Bob, where is that place. We used to frequent a couple places on the Lake but they closed. Would like to find some new spots to dine in.

Gawd, think I gained 10 lbs.  Smoked turkey, stuffed pork loin, Sweet potatoes, mashed with honey and spices, asparagus, green beans (grilled) Brussel sprouts with garlic and mushrooms. Mashed potatoes. collard greens with ham, fruit salad, green bean salad, Corn bread stuffing, Peach cobbler, Dutch apple pie and pumpkin pie. And I know I missed a lot of stuff. I had no idea my son and his wife could cook like that.

I not a big fan of sweet potatoes, but my daughter also makes it like a desert. It has maple syrup in it and topped off with crushed pecans  cooldude

You know the "Kids  say the darndest things"  an interviewer was at the mall and found a father holding a very young daughters hand to which the interviewer put a microphone to the daughter and asked what's the first thing that your father does after the big Thanksgiving dinner? To which the daughter answered quickly and with a straight face, he Poops!

John,
It's called Dinner and Cruise. They depart from the Halifax Marina....125 Basin Dr.
The food was actually quite good! Had a 2 hr cruise, and we really enjoyed it.
