I know the hotel has not been identified yet, but the dates have been. Not knowing the host hotel will not stop anyone from working on a campground location as they are obviously two different entities.

I will be traveling in a motorhome to inzane, but my wife and I are planning to do one of my bucket list vacations. We will be taking a week or ten days prior to Inzane and camping in various national parks and using the motorhome as a base, then tour them on the Valkyrie.

In the past do most of the Inzane campers do so in tents?
or some type of motorhome configuration?

I saw that someone mentioned that the KOA at Billings was a good one, anyone else have thoughts on that one as an option for the campers?

Last year the campground we stayed in there was one motorhome, one pickup camper, two fifth wheels and 5 tents total at different times. We are looking at the KOA in Billings unless everyone decides to stay somewhere else.

I have been looking at the Billings KOA also.
It is centrally located near the downtown area so it should be close to what ever hotel the VRCC lands at.

They get great reviews, and there is a very large variety of sites.
They have a bunch of tent sites along the river, along with 100 or more larger sites.

the campground I stayed at in Morgantown was not where all the other campers stayed. there were 2 other inzane attendees there though. they both had campers they pulled behind their valks. I was in a tent

I made reservations at the KOA yesterday because some of the larger type sites were already filling up for our time frame.

I did ask about tent camping and found one type is already filled, I am guessing the premium river front sites? They said they are about $50 per site and they allow two tents per site. Seems high for a tent site, but maybe people can double up?

We just made our reservations at the KOA in Billings also. Hopefully more will camp there also. Looking forward to meeting you Jim. We are also going to stay in the Buffalo KOA and in Mitchell at the Rondee campground on the way out.

My wife and I are not going directly to Billings.
We are taking off a week early and heading to the Tetons and Yellowstone, then on to Billings.
I am sure we will meet up at the KOA.

If I were camping I would want to be right next to someone in a motorhome.  cooldude

That way there is protected parking as the Valks like to hang out together in a dry place.  Roll Eyes

Your about 5 hrs from Billings from the NE YS entrance. The North/NE side of YS is the best, imho. Gets boring from time to time as you have a lot of riding to get to places in YS. A little sight seeing tip, leave YS a day early and head out the east ent and spend the day and night in Cody WY. Lots to do there. Then when you leave Cody head up Chief Joseph HWY and it T's into Beartooth HWY which leads you to Billings. CJH is far better then Beartooth pass. Dress for snow in YS.

Looking at the map of Billings, it look like the host hotel is about 4 miles from the KOA.
It is a direct shot using the I90 frontage road.

Jim,
I'll also be staying in my RV/Toy hauler.   While I am working on another plan, I believe in being prepared to go with the flow.   Most likely, my desired option is like swimming up stream.  Wink
Regardless, I use this site to help plan recreational trips.   It doesn't always satisfy my needs but, is definitely a good source for information.

After looking at the available options for camping, we decided to go with KOA. I'm still amazed at the cost. OUCH! Most of the other places had really poor reviews.
Oh well, it's only money.
I got a back in slot with full hookups.
See ya there!

The Beartooth is not motor home, trailer or fifth wheel friendly!

The cost for the camp grounds has me wondering. heck for a few dollar more, you can get a motel.

I agree, they are mighty proud of their real estate in Billings. I would double think it also if we were not already spending over a week in the Tetons and Yellowstone right before the rally. I think the room rates at the host hotel are only about $40 more than the camping sites.

For us it's more a question of having the garage in the back of the motorhome to work on anything that breaks, being able to cook our own dinners, and mainly to sleep in our own bed at night!  cooldude
