As you have probably seen.... IZX ground zero will be Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire, MI. The dates are July 14-18, 2010 (with early bird night of some sort on the 13th). **** Registration is Open!!****PLEASE, DO NOT call the hotel!! To get the rates where we needed them, we had to do some fancy footwork. We'll be doing things a bit differently this year... basically, the VRCC will be making the reservations and turning them over to the hotel when complete. It's a little bit risky this way, but if we work together, I'm confident we can make it work. Details will be forthcoming as soon as we can get them all worked out. More than ever, we're really counting on your support and patience. Thanks in advance! It's going to be an awesome event!!!!!!!

OK - now that Connie has "spilled the beans" - we want to welcome you to the grand state of Michigan. Our team here has already been brainstoming (and if you know the power of OUR brains - that hurts quite a bit), and we are fully committed to make IZX one of the most outstanding events that you have EVER been to. The riding and scenery in this area is simply gorgeous, there are some day rides and adventures that will blow your socks off (so keep yer boots ON).
Watch these boards often, so as F6Gal starts tossing out information, start to jump on it. But you DO HAVE the dates already, get these on your calendars, schedule your work plans for the time off. And I would highly suggest that you plan for the FULL 4 days (Weds thru Sunday morn) of staying at Shanty Creek - because we WILL HAVE absolutely great things planned for EVERY DAY. We want all of you to go home simply shaking your head, saying to each other "man, now THAT we one fantastic week we just had, can't wait till next year!"
Gary House aka Stitch .................. just part of the team here

As an 'Honorary Member' of the Michigan's Misguided, all I can say is everything you are hearing is correct . The roads are great, the scenery is second to none, and the folks in the MI chapter are some of the best you will meet . I've probably put on more miles in Michigan, than I have in my home state of Wisconsin. Just something about the 'Up North' feel and beauty. Here are a few pictures, taken over the past couple of years, from my journeys with the Misguided… Sign up as soon as ya can… You will not be disappointed! Black Dog

Patrick and I are so looking for InZane next summer. The part of Michigan where InZane will be held is our favorite part of the state. Anytime over the years if we had a few days or opportinuty to go anyhwere, this is typically where we would go. We never tire of the area. Also, being in our back yard is bonus for us.
I already have the time on my calendar at work and am so exicted for the event. I think this will be one of the best yet; not that any InZane we've been to hasn't been awesome. 280 days until 7/14, not that I'm counting or anything.
Yee Haw!

What I am getting from the article is that if you are going to break the law and get caught you are going to pay the price. I have no doubt that this is happening all over the country. Anyway, we are going to be well over 200 miles away from the Detroit area. should not really effect us at all.

Detriot? Parts of the "city" looks, smells, and feels like bombed out Lebanon. . . . You have to see it to believe it. There's some areas - like Cass Corridor - that the police don't even routinely go in. And, if you take a wrong turn down the wrong area, you'll get jacked. . . or worse.
I had an instructor at the MSP Centrral Complex once for some LEIN update stuff and he told a story about being pulled over for "running a red" in Detriot. The stop & ticket were bogus and the Detriot PD played good cop/bad cop. He never showed his MSP ID and let the performance take it's course. The "good cop" said; "Go to court and fight the ticket man." It turned out to be an overtime scam. . . . . That was over 10 years ago. I'm thinking nothings changed, but please don't anyone judge Michigan by our "Escape of New York" area. We're just missing the wall & fence.
I'm not rying to start a fight with anyone from the area. Oakland and Wayne Counties both have some great people and wondeful areas, but Detriot is a pit! It is what it is.

Good thing INZANE is not close. Seems to me there are many ways around that place, you do not even have to go through it if you do not want to.

InZane is in the far NW portion of the lower part of Michigan... My advice, if yer headed this way from the west, or south west, would be to go through Wisconsin, and go across the UP of Michigan. That ride alone, is worth a vacation, all by itself! Black Dog

Go this way! Yep, that's what I'm talkin' about... Just went over the Big Mac this past Friday evening, on the way to meet the Michigan's Misguided, for the Fall Color Tour... Weather was just a tad different than in your picture 40+ mph cross winds, and pouring rain... Tried to stay off the metal grid part, and over to the right concrete part... That bridge seemed like it was only 3' wide at the top Pucker Factor, off the charts Black Dog

Just a counterpoint to KW. Detroit like all major cities has its good points as well as its bad. Thinking that things haven't changed from ten years ago just underscores why alot of michiganians feel the way you do. I live 30 miles north of the city. We visit there all the time. Detroit has a terrific entertainment center. It has the Tigers and the Red Wings and yes, even the Lions. Ask the people that visited the city for the Final Four last year what there impression was. Or the Super Bowl the year before. I sent my son to college in the city. Wayne State is on Cass avenue. Not one problem in four years. I would hate to "scare" people away from a trip to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village because parts of the city are in disrepair. Having said all that, from a geographic standpoint Detroit probably won't be "on the way" to Inzane for alot of folks anyway, but a Tigers game in mid July, fireworks afterword, and dinner in Greektown just may be worth the extra miles. I can't wait to seeya all up at Shanty Creek, truly a great spot for a great club to have a great party.

Ho rah! Michigan. Been a Michigander all my life. Born in Marquette (Yooper), graduated from NMU and moved to the Lower Peninsula and became a "Troll" when I started teaching high school. The best state to enjoy the four seasons - although somethimes winter is longer then the other three put together. The greatest views ever. We live in Boyne City (25 minutes from Bellaire-Shanty Creek). I can go for a ride and an hour and 30 minutes later I have already visted three of the great lakes and on the journey I have crossed numerous rivers, inland lakes, small town, ice cream stops and I did most of this ride on county roads NOT I-75 Interstate.
Welcome to all, if you live in Michigan you know what I am talking about. If you haven't been here before = your in for a treat. Oh - I almost forget--don't forget to have a PASTY when you get here, you won't regret it.

It warms my heart to see all positive feedback about our beautiful state of Michigan. I couldn’t agree more with those from Michigan who have commented.
I’m a born and raised Michigan girl, with southern roots; my folks were born and raised in the south then moved to Michigan in the 50’s where the jobs were at the time. Anyway, I love our state for the four seasons, the beauty of our great lakes and our cultural diversity. Here in Lansing we’re near Michigan State University where the Wharton Center for Performing Arts is located; where you can see a Broadway play, comedian or music concerts of all genres. You have the big and the smaller “home town” cities.
I would like to throw in my two cents about Detroit. Unfortunately the city gets a bad wrap. When I began working with my company back in 2001 I began traveling the eastern US, which includes Detroit. We have a location in the heart of downtown. I’ll be honest the thought of that first trip made me a little nervous. I had no reason at all. I’ll admit being a woman alone at night I wouldn’t walk to streets; I wouldn’t do that in any city away from home. I stay at a hotel also in the heart of downtown within walking distance of the office. The People Mover is awesome; it’s a railed car around the downtown area. Greek town is great too. It not only has the casino and Greek food it has other ethnic foods as well. My last trip I ate at an awesome Thai place. Detroit is the home of the Detroit Redwings, Tigers, Lions and Pistons; Three of which play in the downtown area.
I can’t wait for everyone to see your beautiful state; especially the areas around and where InZane X will be held. You’ll in awe; I know I am every time I’m there.
Have a great weekend everyone.

To Caroline, Gary and Timber - you really do appreciate that sax. Especially WHERE he is playing, there are several tall cement walls around the area, and his tunes just resonates from all directions - he is really very talented.
But to all others, yes - Detroit has its' better and poorer points, just like EVERY CITY does.
But I don't know WHY we keep bringing up Detroit anyway, it has NOTHING to do with IZX, not even close to the area where we'll be riding. At Shanty Creek, you'll pull away from your room, ride thru the parking areas, and in 300' - you'll be riding thru forested 2-lanes, absolutely gorgeous.
I posted awhile back, PLAN ON STAYING at SHANTY CREEK for the FULL FOUR DAYS - you will want ALL of them, there will be THAT MUCH to do !!!!

Stitch is right.....Shanty Creek and Detroit might as well be on opposite sides of the earth. When in this part of Michigan, one doesn't even know Detroit exists.

. . ....I agree with Stich on this one....if you,re comming from the Ohio state line....you,ll pass by Detroit....Saginaw....Ann Arbor.....major traffic flow....lots of.."people".....then you,ll slowly start to cruise through scenic farm land....lots of open land.....then into the woods....and that,s when you begin to enter Northern Michigan...you,ll see nothing but woods for 2 hours, with exits off the Interstate for tiny towns tucked out of site....Detroit is over 3 hours away from Shanty Creek...and the difference is like night and day......and if you,re comming from the top of Michigan through Wisconsin...well....you,ll be comming through the UP.....you,re already in heaven....course...you might have to put up with that....Black Dog Character....thats his stomping ground..
