I am changing shocks cooldude on my 2003 standard to a set of I/S shocks off a 99 Interstate.

I'll be changing the bushings out with new ones, the question is will they bolt right up with my existing bolts or do I also need to change them or anything else out?
Thanks
Bill

Smokin Joe

When you made the switch, did you notice a big difference? (I hope so!)

I made the same upgrade.  With the standard shocks I had to have them maxed out to ride two up with my wife, and we are not that big.  Now with the IS shocks they are on 3 all the time nice stiff bounce and comfortable ride even with 2up and a trailer

Yes I could tell the difference I also replaced the bushing with the " Forever Bushings " and it rode much sweeter  http://www.xf6-custom.com/partpages/bushings.html

The better bushings made a difference on mine.
I'm running a tourer on stock tourer shocks. I nearly replaced the shocks, did the bushing instead and it made enough difference that I could put off buying new shocks. I'll find a deal on them sometime and get them upgraded or taken care of.

Are the stock shocks re-buildable eventually?
Thanks,

Thanks for all the great information guys, Smokin Joe especially. I ordered the upgraded bushings from Xf6 (good guy, bought my 9 bar radiator grill from him previously!)

One last question,I ride solo, six feet and 210lbs. I am not super aggressive in the twisties, only scrape a peg now and then.
What setting would you try these on initially?  crazy2

Try'em on ( 3 ) to start thats where mine are set I like a somewhat stiff ride and I'm 20 lbs lighter than you.
