It was a great day, very nice place for a get together. Sorry about the piss poor lead but I did not know one road was closed and we had to back track, then Inverness was having their Christmas Parade and shut down 41, then SR200 has a red light every 100 yards and I think we stopped for everyone of them. I heard one member tell another(THIS RIDE SUCKS) he was right on, but hwy 314 was a nice road to finish the ride there. The ride home was much better thanks to those who know the roads Also that cool air really felt good this morning

Now there's a pair a full house won't beat, Bruce, please don't ever forget the jeans!. Looks like a good turn out, great looking location for another meet up. I noticed access down to the water with handrails....you mean nobody went swimming. I shouldn't be too many more weeks before I'm back in the saddle, already strolling around the house sans the walker. Can't wait to get some wind again.

It was an awesome day, great riding weather and get to hang around with friends Mike and Liz, thank you both for putting this together, what a great spot, you guys rock Also thanks for the the pics they look great BUT I see your girlfriend is rubbing off on you, I see crooked pics DDT "The Legend" was also there and giving us some of his ways a philosophies when it comes down to his riding, thanks man, always a pleasure Bert and Sabrina were there also with the "RUN AWAY BARREL", Nick and I chased down that barrel once, "HOLY COW" I swear he must carry a blower or turbo in there somewhere Larue brother, what can I say, you were missed and we were all asking about you. Jacket = perfect, thanks Hey Steve, don't worry about the obstacles, you got them there and I know Eddie likes red lights anyway Jerry thanks for leading us to the spot AND for not taking us through Steve's red lights OK, enough with the mushy stuff, Jack Attack out

Red lights on HWY. 200... Yes indeedy! I rarely ever go down to that part of town for precisely that reason. It's been said that an accurate census of Ocala can't be taken, because everybody in this part of the state is on that stretch of road driving back and forth... My experience has been that there could be something to that! Anyway, now you know...
What a great outing! Really nice location... first time I've been down to the springs in several decades... It's been improved and upgraded since my last visit, and I confess I am very impressed! Due to the modestly cool (but not cold) temps, we had the place to ourselves... except for the lady ranger person who drove by on her cart and waved.
Nobody went for a swim! I was sure at least one of our babes present would break out a bikini and do an impression of Ester Williams, but that didn't happen... alas, another missed opportunity.
The chow was a special surprise. Mike and Liz did a fab job of calling this gathering, setting everything up, coordinating all of the details, and then being truly great hosts! Good turnout, although I would have enjoyed seeing some very special to me folks that weren't able to be with us (next time John, Deb & Fred)...
I thought Terry and Iris might drop by, but nope... I'm pretty sure it wasn't work that kept them away either, since Terry retired a good while ago! Honey-dos perhaps? If so, then you need to lighten-up on my buddy, Iris! Larue did have some work issues, though, and he was indeed missed... Others too many to mention weren't there either, but that's understandable... life happens!
This Florida bunch continues to impress me... I made an entry in my daily journal, and it contained a reference to how amazed I am that this group continues to thrive, even grow! Most organizations loose their 'luster' over time, as they mature and allow atrophy and lethargy to creep in... Somehow y'all have managed to avoid that, and I compliment you all on that!
I'm not sure what all goes into causing such a phenomenon, but the folks themselves are the primary ingredient. Truly nice folks who like and respect each other and genuinely enjoy the company of each other... It helps to have a few 'unofficial leaders' too... Folks who take the initiative and 'make things happen!' Clearly Florida is blessed with several of those, Mike and Liz in the limelight this time... Thanks!

Looks like a good time was had by all. I'll have to dig around in that old shoebox somewhere for some pictures from the 80's when we were a frequent visitor to Salt Springs. We were all underneath that oak tree on the left looking down the run one day when an Osprey was eating lunch above us. We had to move as fish scales and bones were raining down on everyone. Our friends had a cabin that was just up the hill from the spring. Before the state bought the property there were cabins all around the spring on both sides all through those woods. You could just get up and walk to the spring and jump in. The older rectangular concrete walls were there but the new curved section was not. Bruce I was in Plant City at an event for another hobby that I have Amateur Radio. We have what are called "hamfests" in different towns on different wekends throughout the year and this was a rather large gathering of "hams"

I had all good intentions on making this one even called Eddy to see if he and Kim were going he said your a funny guy said walking to his car was enough outside for him! Unfortunately the wife felt the same way! So I helped a widow lady here with a broken water line to her house, so all wasn't lost! That was a close one for us though only 19or20 miles away, but I am a little like Eddy though if it's under 70 I tend to freeze up also, looks like you had a great time hopefully the next one! Wish I knew you guys were going to hit the 200rd I would have directed you around that mess!

Last time I was up there we camped. Late 1970's. Got bit by a Brown Recluse in my sleeping bag and 3-4 days later I almost did not make it. Went in the hospital with BP of 90/50 and falling.

At 89, my dad got bit by one of those, almost lost a leg. His dog had died recently so he was out back pulling fence posts since the fence was no longer needed....I should hope to be able to pull fence posts at 89. After the posts, he went around with his weed whacker to cut the grass in/around the old fence location then pulled the protection from around the a/c unit. Told me he got down on the ground and was pulling weeds/grass by hand and felt something sorta sting his leg. Slapped at it figuring is was an ant bite and went about his work. Wasn't long he was in the hospital. He had #2 diabetes by then and poor circulation in his legs so healing was long and painful. Ended up with some reconstruction around the lower leg and had to wear a brace from then on and the dr. told him to always have his walker in front of him. So, one day my sister is looking out the window and there's dad pushing a wheelbarrow with the walker laying across the handles. She yelled at him and his answer....."hey, the walker is in front of me like the dr. said." Caught the flu December, 1999, in the hospital for a time and went to join mom two days after Christmas....age 93.
