That I truly think my accident, no matter how painful, inconvenient or expensive it has been, has probably saved, or at least extended my life. I havent had a smoke since the 19th of September. Once I regained consciousness in the ER, I asked for nicotine patch therapy and haven't had a real urge to smoke since. I had tried many times previously to stop, but this was finally my God-given opportunity once and for all, and I'm not going to blow it. I only hope that once I'm feeling better, and off oxygen & pain-killers, I can keep the evil beast at bay. I REALLY want to get to Inzane next year!
Un-fortunately, I was out cold for my first-ever helicopter ride. DARN, and it was $900.00!

Good to see you posting again Walt. I stayed off cigarette's after blowing out my left lung in my sleep for 93 days 4 hours 12 minutes and 31 seconds. All kidding aside I wish you the best in stopping. I turn 49 on Nov.8 and I'm getting my heart and mind right to try and stop smokin' forever on that day. Again I'm glad to see you up and posting ...Heal fast and ....Ride On

I guess rural Wisconsin is more economical, although the hospital bill is over $60K

You got a deal on that flight, my ambulance ride was $1,900.00.
Jokes aside, I'm glad you're healing and thinking positive about your long life in front of you. Attitude is everything I think when it comes to rehab and healing.
Keep up the good work and I hope to see you soon.

Welcome back Walt, I'm glad you are getting better....
One thing though, when they say "keep the shiney side up" I don't think they are referring to the rear end of the bike down, although the front was shiney alright.
I'm glad you didn't get hurt worse in your accident and I'm hoping that you are back on two wheels quickly!
It ain't like you don't have a spare ride! Geez Louise... I hope you get the "Stinger" going again soon!
Ride Safely!
Doug (Best wishes from Hungary)

$900 for the chopper, that sounds like your share after the Insurance takes it's pass at the bill.
I believe they call it co-pay.
Around here, they can't even get one off the ground for under 3K. I should say ROOF TOP.

Welcome Back. Glad to hear you are healing and in good spirits. Helo ride is over rated, I've had many during my Navy days. As for the no smoking, I quit about 3 -4 years ago and never looked back, but I had patch/pill help. It's not an easy thing to do, but definately healthier and you have a good start. Soooooo, Good Luck. My daughter just started those "electronic cigs" to help wean her away, it's only been a few days so the verdict isn't quite in. But if you want to read up on it, here is the link to hers..... http://greensmoke.com/6578.html I know there are others out there as well.

Walt, good to see you back on the board. Stay with your "No Smoking" program. It can be done! I quit a 2+ pack a day habit 27 years ago with an open pack of Winstons in my shirt pocket that I carried for over 6 months. I couldn't count the times that I put that first un-lit cigarette back in the pack. That educated finger would fish one out before I knew what was going on. My wife always said that I was "hard headed" and "stubborn". Maybe she was right! Anyway, take care of yourself and don't get in too big of a hurry to do all the things that you love to do. Your body will tell you when it is ready. Until then, take your medicine, rest, and get well. We all have been missing you, my friend....JTL

Walt, glad to see you post, I quit 28 or 29 years ago, bottom line for me is there is nothing in my life that having a cigarette is going to help. You have a jump on it, give your lungs a chance. Heal quickly & completely!
