Extra Part Help!

This morning, after I replaced the rear turn signal last night. I found a part on the garage floor.  It is a rubber part about the width of the rear fender.  Cross-sectionally, it is u-shaped.  It will slide over the back of the fender at the rear, but there is nothing to keep it in place.

Would somebody check their 2014 and see if there is a piece of black rubber between the top of the rear light and the fender?  In the last photo, I've placed the part on the fender, but it doesn't really look right to me.

Did you take the fender off to do this?  I'm sure I remember this piece when I took off my rear fender either it cushioned the fender to the frame or it was on the taillight it self and it cushioned the light to the fender.  But I have had many naps sense that work.

Yes, I had to remove the outer fender (fender "B")  and loosen the inner fender (fender "A").

I found it at BikeBandit and Partzilla by looking at taillight parts instead of fender parts.  It's called a "Rear Fender Cover Moul".  It looks like it sits on top of Fender "A" -- has nothing to do with the tail light.
