Can anyone tell me how to reduce the size of photos so they are within the 100KB limit?

You can get a free down load (from the site below) that will allow you to resize your photos.

John,
I use a shareware program called Fotosizer.
It's a 1.2 meg download and is pretty easy to use.
You can change the original size by percentage or preset size.
Hope this helps. Google Fotosizer and take a look.

Here is a link to a Microsoft download. They wrote a resizer for XP and was offered as a Power Tool.
I like it because you can right click on a picture and it ask if you want to Resize as one of the options. If you click that option you are given a choice of 4 options.
