just saw the clip of meryl basihng donald at her speech at golden globes last night.

wow, that audience seemed shocked as well.

trump being trump really fired right back indicating she is an overrated actress, etc.    He needs to do a better job accepting criticism when attacked once he is in the oval office.  If he says that about an actress,  what will he do with heads of state/other country leaders?   coolsmiley

Not entirely on-point, but this comment on that video was spot-on:  "Liberals spent 40 years indoctrinating Americas youth into beliveing in relative morality. Now Hollywood whines because those same kids now see nothing wrong with downloading pirated movies."

I read that comment also.  Classic and true.  Same thing happened with musicians.

Watch. His thin skin will be his downfall.
Also, everything Streep said was true.

I told people, months ago, that this man has mental/emotional issues.

You know something, you may be right I cannot imagine anyone wanting to clean up after Obama's mess and actually be president of the US without ripping all of us off. Plus not getting paid for it or actually using the office of president for his own personal gain. What a concept. Isn't there some kind of mental illness for wanting to make America great again?

Given what I've seen of the snowflakes and DNC leadership catastrophic meltdowns, I'm gonna say I'm pretty confident in our guy. That he enjoys telling folks who deserve it to stick it where the sun don't shine is an endearing quality. In fact, seems like he's giving his adversaries the mental and emotional issues.

Poor media folks are losing their minds.

Here one of the best method actresses is getting a lifetime award and she uses the stage to bash the upcoming govt. I watched it live and thought the audience was on her side. We all are entitled to an opinion about politics, but she cheapened the award function with her rant. Her fame and talent don't make her any wiser than anyone else.

Shouldn't about 2/3 of the audience watching her have been in Canada by now anyway?

I'm sorry to see her joining the ranks of know-nothing hollywood liberals using their fame to attempt to steer public opinion generally in a socialist direction instead of sticking to what they know - acting.   I used to respect her a lot.  Too bad.  I try not to support any such actors - so they have just a little bit less money to spend in a wrong direction.  That means I will have to pirate her movies instead of supporting her at the box office.

I agree with Mark T on this,  the golden globes were not the place nor time to rant on politics out of the blue.

Trump likes to defend himself and sometimes though his words get him into more trouble than just laughing her off.  She has her opinion,  but if I was Trump I would just state she has her opinion and felt it was not the right place and time to do such a comment.

Trump has a lot of haters out there, just hope he does not get shot at during his first few weeks/months.

Anyone who hasn't figured this out, 95% of Hollywood entertainers (and the business end) have heads full of mush.

When they speak lines not on a script (with direction and practice), it generally shows.

Trump is a president who is pc literate for a change and this has really not happened before, so I'm sure all presidents felt the same if they had not been insulated from the criticism from their policies. We have never had a president so accessible to public reaction in real time and says what he feels.

I am happy about this since it was Obama that never heard the people suffering under his tenure.
Obama not hearing is what assured his defeat, that is why he was blind sided by the Democratic parties defeat.

I only hope that Trump has enough positive input from people since the criticism, poison darts and arrows from the left has certainly been unmistakable.

when a person cares for the people it would be nice to know that the people support him since the establishment and all the trenched in politicians including Obama fight tooth and nail to keep the swamp.

Obama cared about his own agenda, Trump cares about the peoples agenda that is why Trump responds and Obama could care less.

Plus we forget that Obama detractors where hit with tax liens levy's and audits just to name a few retaliations. I wonder if Trump will do this tactic?

All she has done for me is alienate me from watching or supporting any movies she is involved in. It's sad when what is considered our "entertainment" people have to seize on a moment in the spotlight to make their political beliefs known. Spoils what the event is about. When she did that I promptly turned off the TV. I am not alone.

Did you even read what I wrote? I was talking about an event that was used to make a statement. I have no problem with her stating what she believes.
I never compared her to Trump either.
As to if he is a sick man ,, that is your opinion. Clearly you have a real beef with Trump. It seems you would like to project that on everyone. Independent?? you sure don't sound like it!!!
As to his supporters , ,you label them delusional? You are so sure of yourself. I get the feeling you think you are always right. He is not even in office yet and you are positive you know the outcome.
Better watch what you spew out as you may have to eat some bitter crow. Its clear you are consumed by bitterness against Trump.

I can't help but think back over the last eight years when reading that statement. Add to that, Obama's absolute lack of experience and you have the horrendous results we're now bogged down with. In my view, kudos to Trump for calling a spade a spade in many cases. Yes, he'll join a distinguished club of all prior presidents that have at one time or another "opened mouth, inserted foot."  When compared to BO, he's no worse....just uses a different method of expression.

Precisely why anyone gives a damn about what Streep thinks is beyond me.   Her or any other celebrity.   They have an opinion, so do each of us.   She took her moment in the spot light to make herself look like a political hack/ass.   Her choice.   The media plays it up.   Big frick'n deal.   Roll Eyes

I will agree that Mr. Trump needs to dump the twitter thing.   All it does is nurture more crap IMHO.
But, I can also see how it's hard to restrain from hitting back.   Happens all the time here.  Wink

Never been sure why anyone places any actor or actress on a pedestal of any type.
They either do or do not do a good job of acting.

Ms Streep may be a good actor, so what. Many people are good at their job and just go along every day doing what they do with accolade. Actors are certainly a different bunch, they feel the need to be patted on the back.
One also can remember actors work in a world of make believe and fantasy. I find true story movies are Hollywoodized.
i find it odd people look up to these folks and listen to what they have to say. With all the money they make and the way they live, I would think it would be easy to be liberal.

As mentioned, I'm wondering why so many of those folks were at the awards. I would have donated for their one way ticket out of this country. I haven't because I assumed they were liars.

I remember watching political rants by other actors at past award shows. Thats why I don't watch those shows or watch movies they are in. Yep, I don't go to the movies very often.

sort of sorry I brought this topic up for discussion in a way.

I am not nor ever will be heavily involved in politics (or acting-LOL).

I did not mean it to, judging by some posts I read,  put some fellow Valk riders at odds with one another, very sorry for instigating it with this post.

Can't we all kiss and make up?    Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

Can't we all just get along???   angel angel

I admit though a few times I too have gotten upset and thru words on this forum (and others), not agreed in not such a pleasant way.  I guess so goes life?   Undecided

Just stating my opinion that meryl bashing trump at the awards was not the right time nor place and trumps comeback was not very professional as well.   I really think he needs to lighten up on what others say about him and move onto bigger issues at hand in the near future.  If someone calls me a donkey's _ss,  I could really care less most of the time, but I guess I do not get attacked verbally and in writing nearly as much as Mr. Trump.   Shocked

However, we all have our own breaking points and like me as said in another posting elsewhere,  got really pissed off, already in a bad mood, one time with a young, african american adult/kid at a waterpark several years ago calling me a big fat _ucker and other white racial comments just out of the blue him doing it just thinking he would impress am sure his nice looking white girlfriend next to him.  Which, I think backfired on him when I told him some not so pleasant comments right back in his face while he kept walking away.

Got a couple paths I could go down in responding to this one. I'm not going to denigrate either Trump or Clinton here but just make an observation of them in general over the past few months.

Ultimately, Donald Trump and his campaign was vibrant and had tremendous positive energy. Yes, he would get raw and ugly, but it was a fight not only against the Clinton campaign but most of the media as well.
Make of that what you will. But the positive energy was "Make America Great Again" ... more business, better economy, better military, better law enforcement, and always had a positive agenda talking about great things for the future.

Now the point isn't whether he can deliver or not. The point is what did the Democrats and the Clinton campaign offer? What could you embrace? Nothing remotely as positive or engaging. Most of the time she was simply railing against Trump. There was no excitement of the future.

Now admittedly, I have a bias here. But I do try to look at this objectively and if you do, in fact, look into this, you will find that even Clinton supporters admit to Mrs. Clinton not having an engaging persona, and her campaign suffered for it.

I understand your critique of Mr. Trump. My view is that we don't need a normal person at the helm. This is a tough job. A job that requires decisions normal people don't make well.

What I would like to see is your assessment of Mrs. Clinton as it would compare to Mr. Trumps.
Frankly some of Mrs. Clinton's exploits and reactions to things gave me great pause as well.

Ultimately it was the positive energy of Trump and his campaign that won me over early.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Mike Rowe:

Mike - I'm curious to read your commentary about Meryl Streep at The Golden Globes.
Hi Sarah,
In 1986, I took my girlfriend to see the movie Alien. She didn’t want to go. Said she hated science fiction. I told her to broaden her horizons, and try something outside her comfort zone. She finally agreed.
In the lobby of the multiplex, I was getting the popcorn and the Junior Mints, and she was waiting for me with a giant Coca-Cola by the door of the auditorium, which the usher was about to close.
“Hurry Michael! The previews are starting!”
We made it with seconds to spare and settled into our seats just in time to see eight minutes of coming attractions, followed by the opening credits for a Meryl Streep film cared “Heartburn.”
“Oh crap,” I said, “we’re in the wrong theater." I stood up but she grabbed the back of my belt, pulling me back into the seat.
“Oh look!” she said. It’s Meryl Streep! She’s such a wonderful actress.”
“Well,” I said, “she was great in Sophie’s Choice, but I don’t want to see a love story. I want to go to space, “where no one can hear me scream.”
“Oh, and look,” she said. “Jack Nicholson is in it too! And hey…it’s a Mike Nichols film! He’s terrific! Let’s just stay and watch this one. Ok?”
“But I want to see Alien,” I said.
“But it's Meryl Streep,” she said.
“But I hate these kinds of movies,” I said.
“Well,” she said, “maybe you should broaden your horizons, and try something outside your comfort zone?”
So, instead of watching Sigourney Weaver sashay around a spaceship in tiny underpants, fighting aliens that popped out of her crew mates abdomens, I watched Meryl Streep pretend to fall in love with Jack Nicholson. Afterwards, we got into an argument at Bennigan’s and broke up during the appetizer. All in all, one of the worst dates I’ve ever had, thanks in part to a truly unconvincing performance.
But I’d sooner go through it all again, before watching a repeat of The Golden Globes.
