Come on..... you know its purely a political move.  Obama himself states he didn't feel he was deserving.
Even they know he is a "Post Turtle".... and for those unfamiliar with that term..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_turtle

But I want to know if he will have to pay taxes on that money before he donates it to charity and what charity he will donate it to...

Twitter crashes after Barack Obama awarded Nobel Peace Prize
Social networking site Twitter crashed on Friday as millions of users around the world joined the debate over Barack Obama being awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

The site went into meltdown at lunchtime yesterday amid the sheer weight of people commenting on the news, which comes just ten months into his first term in power.

The problem was quickly identified and repaired, but Twitter fans experienced issues throughout the afternoon.

Barack Obama 'humbled' by Nobel Peace Prize

Obama was the most popular 'trending topic' - or subject of discussion - for much of yesterday.

Traffic to Twitter also increased after NASA's LCROSS mission to the Moon ended with the rocket crashing into the surface of the satellite - and Mylie Cyrus's decision to quit Twitter.

The official site of the Nobel Foundation also began to creak under the weight of sudden traffic as millions logged onto verify the news.

The 48-year-old U.S President was hailed by the Norwegian Nobel Committee for 'his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples'.

Yesterday a poll of 1,000 Brits by www.OnePoll.com revealed that 80 per cent believe the award has come too early and only one in five said the award was 'deserved'.

One in three even went as far as to say that Obama should feel 'embarrassed'.

And six out of ten said they felt the Nobel panel may have been influenced by the contrast between Obama's work and that of the previous presidency of George Bush.

I told you, he's just an ajon provocateur. He likes to stir the pot and then sit back and watch the sparks fly. Kind of like our government, they get us fighting about Republicans vs Democrats and it takes our energy away from the real issue that OUR GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM.

since you were so quick to post the fact your boy was awarded the nobel peace prize maybe you could take the time to explain to us un-informed what he has done to warrant the award

You can look at it from this perspective.  Make a list of the top six candidates you'd put up for the peace prize.  Select them from their accomplishments as you have seen/read on CNN, NY Times, Times of London, and yes, even Fox News.  What?  No names?  This is the problem the peace prize nominating committee had.  There was really nobody recognizable on the horizon at all.  Obama came closest.

I think it was/is to early for Obama to get this award, as do most people.  But you have to consider the Bush factor.  Bush was widely viewed as a war monger, and the US was viewed extremely negatively all over the world.  The American School here has removed its armed guards (Uzi's) from the campus.  Complete strangers come up to me in all countries and shake my hand and tell me how wonderful it is that Obama was elected and that war monger Bush has been thrown out.

The peace prize committee say they gave him the award because "the peace prize could be seen as an early vote of confidence intended to build global support for the policies of his young administration.

They lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation, and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease U.S. conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen its role in combating climate change".

What I don't get are the hateful attacks upon Obama.  He did ask for this, he didn't apply for it, and an American has won it.  And just maybe it might help move us toward a lower level of conflict in this world.

Bush was "thrown out"
I must have missed that.
Just exactly when did that happen?

I'm sure,in the effort to educate people around the world, that you pointed out that Bush had two terms and under our present laws was not eligible for another term.  Grin

Well to start, let's be fair. Obama didn't ask for or solicit the award.
He seemed to be quite surprised in fact. That he "won" it doesn't diminish him and folks shouldn't hold this one against him.

The real issue is the Nobel prize committee and how by giving the Peace Award to Obama diminishes the value of the award because there was nothing that Obama did to "earn" it. In fact, if the committee wanted to make a real statement, they should have refused to give the award to anyone since they apparently didn't have anyone that overtly earned a Peace Prize. That would have gotten noticed.

There should be something tangible to show to get such an award.

As to people in other countries thinking that Bush was "Thrown out of office" it just goes to show how ignorant people can be.
And what is really scary is that there are many in this very country that think Bush was "thrown out"
(Been priviy to some amazing conversations with fellow citizens)

As said above Bush was not "thrown out" he left after he did his two terms.  I would have voted for him again if I could have.
Obama has done nothing to deserve this award. The paper read yesterday and I quote  "president Obama won the Nobel Piece Prize on Friday because the judges found his PROMISE of disarmament and diplomacy too good to ignore". Promise. What does that mean.  Angry
This is like giving the Congressional Medal of Honor to a Marine right out of boot camp for what he "might" do later......
