Starter Switch Assembly Part Number
«
on:

Does anyone have a part number for the starter switch assembly for a 98 Standard? I butchered mine tonight attempting to perform the maintenance and have read a lot of posts about this but havent seen a part number. I have also looked at the diagrams online but still unable to find only the switch assembly. Any help would surely be appreciated.

It is listed under Side Cover. Thought you meant the ignition switch.

The plastic was a little deformed from heat on the part that slides and when I tried to take it apart to clean the contacts I bent it real bad and broke one of the sides off.

Yeah, been there, done that, it sucks.
You might be able to pick up a used one off ebay, but it's going to be an old one also.
I've bought a few over the years and it's nice to have a new one.

If they do you, should go out and buy a lottery ticket.
Most dealers don't carry any parts at all, especially one that is specific to only one model.

My dealer seems pretty good about carrying maintenance parts, but forget it for something specific like an ignition switch for a Valkyrie. He'll order anything though...obviously. Save a trip and call first ...

I always go to my local Honda parts dealer, knowing the online price first, and see how close they can match it.
Saves on shipping and they can usually get it the same week.
For me, works out cheaper and faster than buying from the US.
