Many years ago here was a post about problems with center stand because the Valkyrie frame was not designed for this. It was posted pictures of crack in welds. Someone who remember, or find this post?
Thanks

Dag,
I remember some on here had issues with the center stand cracking the frame members, mostly because of the bike being 'slammed' back onto the center stand. Also over tightening of the bolts could/would distort that part of the frame it is bolted to. I have a Rivco center stand on mine and for over 15 years now with no issues. When I pull it back onto the center stand I try to 'land' it softly onto the stand and not slam it to the rear as though I was trying to put the bike thru the wall . I love mine best addition ever on my Valk. I also keep an eye on the frame there regularly .

Center stand damage to the frame is caused by the leveraged, (height of stand leg) rotating torque imposed by an improperly designed center stand. The stand needs to be designed to eliminate the rotational torque caused by over 800 pounds of weight in motion coming to an abrupt stop.

That was a problem with the original design as I understand it. A change/addition was made by adding a rubber tipped stop bolt to the center section so that when the stand was engaged, that bolt stopped the action by pressing against the rear of the engine when in the "fully lowered" position. Mine has that bolt and has never given a moment of trouble since it prevents twisting action on the frame member.
Over the years I've seen a few c/s on Ebay and elsewhere that are apparently the original versions, the stop bolt is missing. I wouldn't buy one unless I planned to add that change before mounting it.
