Author Topic: Wanting to add an Alternator Gauge.  (Read 1409 times)

I've recently ran into Alternator problems with my Standard Valk, and to avoid any more problems I'd like to put on an Alternator Gauge (not an idiot light) to monitor the condition of my Alternator.

Would anyone out there suggest what gauge and where on my bike I could put it?

Thanks...Bob

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I have a chrome one from Kury. Mounted it on my triple tree. I like it.

I have a voltmeter mounted in the right pod in back of the fog lites
on my interstate

It is on when the fog lites are on so that I dont forget to have em off when I start the bike    Real easy to see even in bright lite

I have a Motosen on my std.  Looks like OEM, if there were such a thing.  Have heard of some of the electronic ones with lights going bad.

Ditto on the Motosens gauge. I also added the Oil Pressure gauge as well.  Look OEM like MP said.

I bought a volt meter from O-Reily that cme with it's own bracket and mounted it next to the fuel switch. I had the Kury one but it didn't last a year. This was a quick and inexpensive fix after the 3rd failure. Had it on over a year and the only thing I've had to do was replace the bulb awhile back. It give me a reading when I turn the key on and of course when it's running to.

Used marine voltmeter.  Bracket leaves something to be desired, but I am not a metal worker.  The photos I have seen of the Motosens look much more professional.

Ok guy's, thanks for all your replies, but I checked out motosens, granted they do have nice stuff, but it's in Germany!!..

How much would an voltmeter gauge and shipping be to the USA?

bobinpa, go to vendors list on this site, click on (click here for vendor list) and scroll down to motosens, click on that , then click on american flag. that supplier is in canada, they give very good service and ask for your 10% vrcc discount..they should have prices on there site or just call them, prices are very resonable..

+1 to above advice.  Supplier is in Canada, Edomonton, if my rememberer is working.  Pay in us funds over the phone, will receive in less than a week.  Great people, be sure to tell them you have a Valk, also they give a discount to vrcc and voai members.
