Whereas it will be another 8-10 weeks before I can ride again, and

Whereas I may be able to wind up with a low mile '07 GL1800HPNA with all the necessary mechanical and most of the necessary electrical still functioning for a very low cost, and

Whereas a motorcyclist's idle mind and body are the gear-head's workshop,

Has anyone ever embarked on building a GL1800 FrankenValkyrie?

I know virtually none of the marriage would be plug & play, and further, there would be a significant amount of design, frame modification, machining, and stowing of stuff the Valkyrie does not have, but the end result sure could be cool.

Should I blame these ramblings on the oxycodone, or do they merit further investigation?

Not really an 1800 Valk, but a wing converted to a Std?

Nodrog recently posted more recent photos of the bike in Scott's post.  Search for "x-wing."  Saw it in person at the CBR.

Sounds like the ultimate wrench party to me.

Maybe that's why Honda hasn't done it yet.

Sure would like to see a brand spanking new Valkyrie in the dealerships.

A number of years ago I believe there was some one in England that had a big-bore 1800cc kit, but, I think there were some problems and it didn't go over very well..

The X-Wing is probably the coolest of all the naked wings I've seen.  It probably makes much more sense from a project standpoint, too, as it retains so much more of the factory design than what I'm thinking of, especially the factory frame/engine/suspension relationship.

My Buddies and I were talking about this as well.

More for the fuel injection part of it.

our thoughts were ...

is the Rune the Same Frame as the Valk ?  or is it like the GL1800  Aluminum?

Is the Rune the Same Exact engine and the GL1800 or was this an early version ?

The Rune frame is different than the Valk by a far shot.  Whether it's the same as the wing, I can't say.

I also can't say about the engine, but I BELIEVE (just a belief... I'm not sure) it's the same 1800 wing engine with a different fuel map.
