The bags are not badly damaged at all, in fact there are only gel coat stress cracks in a couple of small places that can only be seen with a led light shining down through the paint which is not cracked. The brackets are bent so as to make the bag clearance between the fender and bag more on one side than the other. The only other mark is the a road rash scrape on the bottom of the left bag that is about 1.5 inches long and about 1/4 inch high. The bike with the bags looks pretty much the same and I am having a hard time taking a pic that shows the damage. The only damage that shows easily is the one on the left lower side that can be covered with black paint since the lower part of the bags is black. Lids and everything work well the only reason considering replacing them is to refinish the bags and realign the brackets you never get them in the same exact color that comes from Corbin.
Body shops for the most part are terrible and to go through the hassle of getting them the exact color and metal flake to look like OEM is almost impossible for most of them. I would have had to take the time to take them off send them out put them on realign the brackets or maybe get new ones and the insurance company didn't want to pay me for my time, wise choice by the way when just buying a new set of bags and installing them would be so easy and far less costly and time consuming. I can ride with the bags the way they are and in fact have been.
You guys know I really like my bike and keep it in top condition so that these imperfections were not acceptable when I did nothing wrong and wanted my bike in the condition it was before. So for someone who wanted a set of bags and could not afford the Corbins it may be a winner. They for the most part are just bolt on in their present condition and many would be more than happy with them, which means no refinish would be required. But I still may decide after the shock and horror and getting the coverage paid out to keep the bags.
There are a few things that I finally got over with this, someone hitting my bike and wondering what would happen, knowing these bike are tough as well as good lookers and just the feeling that my bike can go where ever I want and tough it out. That only comes with experience and travels. OH and the most important thing when inside of you that little voice is telling you to tell someone that your bike is close by,
DO IT.
Did I tell anyone here that I LOVE MY BIKE
