Hey guys. I have a few thoughts on this, but thought I'd ask the collective to see what you think.

On my 97 Standard at stops I'm on my toes. I thought I had a 32" inseam,  but guys who say they have that are flat footing it, so maybe I'm at 30". Either way, my heels are a good inch off the ground at stops. I don't really want to get shorter shocks for a couple of reasons. One, I don't want to change the geometry of the bike. Two, I just bought some progressive 13" shocks, as she still had the stock shocks and they were pretty well toasted at 46,000 miles.

Anyway, I was thinking about either getting the stock seat shaved and recovered or buying a new seat. Any thoughts you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

The Ultimate Lowboy is an inch under stock. (you don't need a whole set, just the driver's solo)

Get some boots with taller heels/soles.  (look at logging boots)

Try changing up when stopping to only putting your left foot down, keeping right foot on the brake pedal so the bike doesn't roll fore or aft on uneven pavement.  This is the way I was taught in MSF in the early 80's (I think they teach both down now, just because so many newbs fell down in class).  Except for rare occasions with bad pavement or high winds, you really don't need both feet down.  Left foot down with a slight cant to the left is very stable almost all the time.  One foot flat is better than both toes down, and the bike rolling around.  Yes, you can use the hand brake at stops, but that interferes with throttling up when you depart from a stop (especially on a hill).

I have 29.5" inseam and 13" shocks, and I get both feet down flat most of the time on either the lowboy or the bigboy.  But I use left foot down most of the time.  It may not be what you are used to, but try it.

The one foot down thing can be compromised with a backseater squirming around back there.  I never have a back seater.

Lowboy  cooldude

13 inch shocks  cooldude

I wear 32 inch inseam jeans too, though I have the "middle sized"
Ultimate seat and do fine...

13 inch shocks seem real valuable to me as far as riding in
the mountains is concerned...

There's a good deal on a low-boy set in the Classifieds right
now, if it is still available...

I like my Ultimate LOWRIDER. With short legs myself I more than flatfoot it.
