While changing out my headlight  bulb I noticed that the  (bulb refector bullet ) is removable .. That is the small cone shape thing that  the bulb nests into . I took mine off to see if it would improve  the beam. I've got a sylvania silver star. It's my second one and I was going to try something different but got the second on warranty because the low beam burned out in 10 months.  It  always seemed to have a dead spot in the high beam . Just wondering if anyone else tried this ? The end of the bulb is blacked out anyway I just thought I'd see what happens.  I will report back

after reading this it seems total removal is not the way to go. I plan on shortening it to raise the light cutoff.

Thanks for the link . I haven't tried it yet   The article does say something about the blacked out tip and it acting as a shield   . It's about dark here and I may go out and drive around a bit.

Just want to give an update . I have ridden my valk for 2 nights and tonite I adjusted the angle of the beam . I think it's better , before there was a dead spot in the high beam .Now the high beam is solid light no dead spots.  I'm using a sylvania silver star  9003 and it has the black tip.  I don't know what other riders are using. I may put the cone back on and see what happens.  But for awhile I'm going to leave it off.
