I've been tinkering with the tune on my '97. I've been having poor start when cold issues, poor idle issues and poor throttle response (hesitation) when going from a "coast" to a slight acceleration.  Adjusting the carb sync and pilot screw adjustments. It's never run this smooth before but wondering what others think. Watch this short youtube video and give me you opinion. I appreciate all the help those who have contributed have been. I never stop learning. Thanks so much!

RESOLVED! Loose timing belts, small vacuum leak and valves needed adjusted. It's a different bike now!

It seemed to be idling smooth as best I could tell from the video. But I'm curious about the smoke from the right side ? Or was it just water vapor from the air being cold ?

Seemed to be more from the right stack than the left, but it wasn't quite to operating temp.

Still doesn't seem quite right. Gotta fix it somehow.

I think the #2 carb is running too rich, turn it out about 1/64th of a turn and take about a 16th of a pound of air out of your back tire, Should run purrfect then.

OK, I did that. Turns out it only needed 1/128th of a turn and I had to add 1/132nd lb in the front tire. Working good now.

is fine, get out and drive it now.

am sure my Valk is 80% tuned up nothing done to it, is still better than 95% of v-twins running today.

I chased down yesterday a nice looking newer 20K+ HD yesterday but backed off since doing 80 in a 55 do not want to get a speeding ticket so early in the riding season.  Ran good enough for me even though I know the Valk needs a tweaking or two am sure.

I was still not happy with it. I tore down the carbs and found that every single float valve was bad. So I cleaned all the carbs, installed new gaskets, replaced the 38 jets with 35's, found 1 cracked and leaking air cutoff valve hose and replaced all the cutoff valve hoses. Adjusted the pilot screws to 2-1/4 out, reinstalled the carbs, synchronized them with the digi-sync, and she seems to purr now. Had to go to work so haven't had a chance to ride it yet. We'll see.
