I had posted a few months ago about my buddy Tim going down and he ended up selling his VTX. Anyway he showed up today at the house on a Spyder. I took it for a test ride. Handle very well and may I say very fast. His had the up graded exhaust which puts his at 110 hp. The only reason I can outrun him is his shuts down at 110 mph. I don't know if I could beat him to 100 or not. Anyway I will take some pictures later this week and post. I might look into one later down the road for my wife. They make a automatic model. I can have fun on one of these, but the only way it could replace my Valk is if I could no longer ride the Valk.

I followed a lady from Cloudcroft NM to Ruidoso NM . During the rally in Sept. By the back way and she was riding one. I could of passed her ,but it was the first time I really got to look at one in action So I stayed behind . She made all the curves with out a problem. I was on my 1800 Wing and never had to slow down for her . I was very impressed with the spyder.

LaMonster let me ride his up on The Dragon when he first got it ...It felt like a fast 4-wheeler to me. I did'nt push no limits on it cause I did'nt want to tie his brand new Spyder around a oak tree  Cheesy  Pretty cool machine but for the $$$$$ they ask for them I'd much rather stay on two wheels.First picture is me turning back into Deal's Gap after my ride on the Spyder ( 2007 ).....Second / Third picture's is same Spyder after LaMonster put his touch on it ( 2009 )...Wicked lookin' Spyder I've not seen any that look cooler.Let your friend know about Lamont's Spyder web-site he can link to it from www.bigbikeriders.com

A BRP distributor within a 60 mile Sunday cruise was giving 15 mile test rides a few months ago. So Joanne and I decided why not.

This was one, of I would imagine several, factory sponsored test ride events traveling the country. Preride was virtually an instruction class and then the test track in the lot prior to hitting the streets.

I post this with extreme trepidation should she see this post. But, being a pretty darn good MC rider (for 5 yrs.) she did have a little trouble acclimating to their test track on the Spyder. I'm just very glad they informed her that they didn't feel should she take it to the streets. Because if they hadn't I would have had too and she may not have responded as well. Actually she was OK with their decision, she was not at all comfortable. It showed when she blew all 3 STOP signs and dragged a few cones.

But on her behalf, I had a difficult & awkward time on the track myself. Coming of the bikes and onto the Spyder with 30 minutes of instruction and a movie then to a small very tight & narrow test course was very awkward.

Once I was on the road it was alot of fun. My tester was an auto-downshift & manual up. Not hard to adjust to. Acceleration was superb. Braking and turns were pretty easy after the first few. But, I would have liked another loop ( about 15 miles) to comfortably increase my curve speeds. They took us down very rural roads many with wild & opposing cambers that made for a very different experience on a vehicle with 3 wheel tracks.
BTW They noticed I forgot to set the parking brake when we got back. Gee, I'm not used to that!
Overall, I liked it, but even with expendable cash I doubt I would buy one. A few hundred miles would have made a world of difference though. I'm sure of that.

Oh Yeah: Rider position. I was feeling it in the wrists after only 20  minutes. And my lower back was feeling it to. Risers (?) & bars would have to be changed out if I owned one. As well as better wind protection like I'm accustomed to.

My one test ride, thanks to Trap at IZ8, was a short ride around the parking lot.  While I didn't get a chance to really get it out on the road I came away with the same impression Joe did.  Felt like a big honkin 4 wheeler.  If I had the cash to blow, it would be fun to have one, but otherwise there are other bikes I would rather own.

I got to ride his around 8 miles. I had a nice straightaway and I didn't red line her but run it thru the gears, I was on 100 mph before I knew it.

they did not care how long we had them but i do shop there so they kinda know us .. from the marks in the grass you can tell they did not back up the hill well

I bought one last January, it is fun and fast although I think the Valk is faster. They are great on rainy days and anytime there is spotty ice and snow. Just like the Valk they draw a crowd when you park them.

I haven't had a chance to ride one yet, but I would sure love to.  I have been riding quads for years and always wished they would come out with a street-version.  Well, this Spyder has to be the closest thing to that.  They really look like they would be a total blast to ride...different from a bike...but real fun still.  If there ever came a time that I couldn't ride a 2-wheeled bike, a Spyder would definitely be in my driveway.  I'm actually kind of surprised that none of the other OEM's have jumped on this.

I rode one here in Phoenix a couple years ago. It ran pretty good but I think the Bumblebee will take it. I have ridden dirt bikes, three wheelers, quads since I was 8 yrs. old Still have a dirt bike and quads and this handles like a quad on the street. Lots of goodies on it though. Traction control, anti-lock brakes lots of storage up front. It would be ok for a second bike but it will NEVER replace my Valk. And the $$$$$$$$ I have a hard time with that as I could buy a few more Valks for that kind of money.
P.S. The Spyder does GREAT BURNOUTS! Don't ask me how I know, they didn't like me for doing that. LOL!

I'm guessing the RT is the Touring model. Local Honda shop carries Spyder also. I talked to him a little and he was telling me about the new touring model coming out. It has a much more upright seating position and lots of accessories. He compared it to a 'Wing.

He also had info on Hanigan trike kits to put 2 front wheels on a 'Wing. You can use their kits to go standard trike, reverse trike, or both for a 4 wheeled 'Wing. The pics in the brochure were pretty interesting looking. Definately something different.

It looks like a sled. I just can't get past that.
Don't get me wrong... I like sleds... but not sleds with wheels. Cheesy

Yeah, but I believe that is the price with the matching trailer that looks alot like the $5000+ Bushtec trailer.  And that touring model would compete more along the lines of a new loaded Goldwing which runs in the mid $20's rather than a 10 year old used Valk...nothing against the Valk, but lets compare apples to apples here.  While it is alot of money for any "toy", it's pretty much in line with other fully loaded touring machines out there.
