Help also,
My Interstate fell over this am. All the way over on it's left side. Now, push start button and it sounds as if something is locked up.
I can shift trans. I have put it in neutral, got it rolling down a hill, shift to second and pop the clutch and the back wheel just skids. Any ideas welcome.

Could be fuel in your cylinders. I'd pull the plugs and check.

I hope you only hit the starter one brief time. Guys that keep trying and trying win the experience of removing the engine to replace broken gears.

I've removed fuel from cylinder, and got it started. BUT, maybe I hit the starter too many times because now I have a noise when I hit start button like something rattling, or broken.
Have I damaged the starter motor? Or worse?

Yeah you broke a gear. Now you have to pull the motor and take it all apart to replace a 30 dollar gear.

No, you don't take the motor apart,,, YET.

Now you get to take the starter motor out, to inspect the starter gears, on the back of the engine.

ultimately the motor will come out. If it makes a noise as though there is a marble in a coffee can it is a broke gear. It could also be the bigger gear next to the starter gear that has a broken tooth. Which case you will probably not be able to see it through the starter hole. Gordonv is right though, remove the starter and look in to see if you can see the broken tooth.
