Ok, I want to stiffen the ride a little the PO was a little guy and I'm about 70 more then him. The stickers are missing on the OEM shocks and not sure what they are set at. I will lift the bike and want to adjust to highest level to start with. How do I know what is 1, 2, etc?

If I'm facing the shock from the side of the bike. Do I turn from right to left or visa versa?

...or clockwise looking down at the top of the shock. I won't tell others what to do, but for me 'banging down' the shock from the highest setting to lowest can't be a good thing for the shock. Also you can turn it counter-clockwise as long as it is not on position #1. I guess if you don't have any numbers you can't avoid banging it down once. Suggestion, once you find position #1 mark it with a sharpie. Make your own arrows or numbers for the other positions. Position #1 will be the first position after the 'bang down'. i am pretty sure I read in the manual not to go from position 5 to 1 (bang down) as well....but oh well.
