Bike came to me with a length of hose or fuel line as the shifter rubber.
I never noticed or cared until that split recently.

Ordered the stock rubber, 24781-KR3-770, $3 at the local Honda dealer, which arrived today.
Clearly this is NOT what fits on my shaft, the inner diameter is too small to fit this fatter shaft and its length is about 1/2 of what I need.

I'll let the pictures do the talking and perhaps one of you could enlighten me as to what I REALLY need. Or.... I guess Fuel Line is going back on it, which really isn't what I had in mind.

You'll notice that the end of mine has a flat cap rather than a welded or cast knob blob.
This is probably after market, eh?

Thanks in advance!

Looks like someone either modified the OEM, or installed a different, shifter.  The rubber appears to be correct OEM

If they DID modify it, I sure have appreciated that extended length, what with my size 12 clodhoppers.

I haven't hated the fuel line on it, but really wanted something more aesthetically pleasing.
If that stock rubber had a bigger I.D., I could slip two of those on it, the shaft is that much longer.

I don't think even the CBR shifter peg is that long.  The CBR peg gets it's reach from the arm being bent outward a bit (your arm is straight).

Looking at the pic, I cannot tell if the shift peg is threaded into the shifter arm or JB welded (or something).  There does appear to be a bead of something at the junction of the shift peg and arm. The clamp, arm and guard wire look stock, for some bike, but not the peg.

I doubt any motorcycle shifter rubber (stock or aftermarket) is going to have either enough diameter or length to fit that peg.

I'd get a good measurement of the diameter of the peg, and look around for something that might look nicer than fuel or other plain hose (though new fuel line will work well if you get the right size).  Whatever you find can easily be cut to length.  Better yet, take it off and take it shopping with you to home depot, auto parts, and maybe a plumbing supply house.

A length of nice braided stainless (in the correct diameter, hopefully a tight slip fit, with maybe a dab or two of RTV silicone sealant on the inside) would look nice, but that would not be as grippy as rubber, and dressing the ends of braided stainless is a tricky business (end trim must be crimped on). Some braided stainless line comes with a clear rubber coating which would be grippy (but that coating often yellows with age and sun exposure, as seen on bike throttle and brake lines).

Look at the Dress Collars in this link (scroll down). http://www.powerdrives.com/pdiretail/brakequip/braided-stainless-hoses/index.html

If you could get them in the right diameter, and sister two silver ones together (and maybe cut off any peg left sticking out), that might work.

Also, you could possibly walk the shifter into a machine shop and ask if they can give the peg a brushed, florintine, stippled or sandblast dress-up look, and run it bare.  Such a finish may not last however.

Split wire loom at auto parts is mostly plastic and really cheezy, but maybe some is nicer rubber.

Finally, powder coaters have a lot of interesting finishes, and the whole unit could be coated, and it shouldn't cost much. Stipple the peg first (for grip) then get the whole unit coated silver.  If the peg is checkered too sharply, it will screw up your boot.  So might uncoated braided stainless.

That's all I got.

The peg looks homemade to me. Here's what I would get and either remove the existing peg and drill tap a new hole or get another stock shifter off EBay and drill tap it. Use a nylock nut on the inside to lock it. Now you'd have a long peg that looks good. https://www.amazon.com/Chrome-Rubber-Extended-Shifter-Davidson/dp/B00CH60VQ8

PM me your address and drop it in the mail for ya.

So, I looked at the fiche for every CBRR, 900, 1000 etc and didn't see anything close to what this looks like. Jess has a Cadillac solution to my Camry issue, thanks brother, but a $.50 chunk of hose is going back on this thing. Should last another three years 40,000 miles like the last one.

This shot shows the cap installed, which does nothing to retain the hose.

And just to change up the subject, electrician Earl E got to do this little oil drain repair job on the Redwing....drill bottomed out inside and jerked and snapped off two chunks. JB Weld and a Timesert for your criticism, I mean viewing pleasure.

Step away from the power tools, boy...I say BOY.  /said in Foghorn Leghorn voice/

I did file the sealing surface flat (not shown) and added a 1/2" o-ring that nested nicely in the timesert gap (I purposely seated it well below flush as part of my plan D revision 4). No leakage after >200 miles. I used the freshly installed oil to flush out drill debris that the grease in the drill and tap's flutes didn't catch. Then new oil. I had been nursing this plug along for two years, knowing it would strip eventually. It was always hard to start and never went in with fingers at all. Blaming the P.O. of course.

In case anyone is wondering, a Goldwing laid on its left side wont leak any oil out of the drain. Mine laid on the side of the driveway for over a week (waiting on the Timesert kit) for the neighbors to gawk at. F'em.

Anybody ever needing a drain plug Timesert installed, holler. I'll send you the kit with one perfect size timesert (and 5 that are way too long). 14mm x 1.0  (I JB Welded that timesert's threads in too, so it can never loosen or leak. That hole bore "had issues" after the drill bucked on me, necessitating Plans B and C.

Measure and USE A DRILL STOP, duh. Hindsight being 20/20 and all.  uglystupid2

That'd be great.

My house to Quantico is about an hour.  Unless 95 is backed up, then it's three days.  LOL

You coming alone or with family?

Fire me a PM and we'll hook up.

I will. It'll just be just me and the wife (& 3 dogs and 3 bikes), but I already have family around there.
2 Sons w/ their 7 kids, Brother and his 3, a nephew with his 3, a SIL in Culpeper, with her 2 kids and 4 grands. All in the Fred/Spotsy areas except the SIL & crews.  I'm hoping to find a place toward Warrenton and take the back road past the FBI academy into the base. I did the Rt3 to 95N to exit 149 for 11 years and it hasn't gotten any better even with the HOV. Looking like anywhere between Jan-Apr 18 start date.

I'll go by the P.O. tomorrow fudgie. Looked all over for that thing...thought I found its package, but no rubber in it. That empty package was for fairing inserts and the rubber was already in the Redwing pocket, daggone CRS kicked in again.
