Hi All,

Is it possible to replace the license plate light bulb with an LED, and if so, what size/type is needed for a plug and play replacement?

The bulb is a Stanley #67, which does have LED replacements. Unfortunately, most beam the light like a flashlight, with not much to the side.
Here are three; only the top one may work, though: https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/led-vehicle-replacement-bulbs/filter/bulbnumber,67,197,8879:

What would you think of something like this?

There is a 27-LED version but it may be too large to fit in the lens...

The 1156 uses the same base as the 67, but the glass end is a lot larger. You could try measuring how much length the lamp will hold; I can't get to the back of mine right now, or I'd do it.

EDIT: I pulled the bike forward enough to measure - there is about 20mm for the globe, so that first one you linked might fit. It will be very close, though.

I ordered this, installed it, and it's plenty bright, illuminates the license plate completely.  I've ordered several times from them, and shipping is always prompt.

One of the diagrams for that one does show side-firing LEDs; there must be 6. I'm guessing it is bright enough that, even though 9 of the LEDs point at the back wall, there's still plenty left.

I do like dealing with them; they're about 7 miles from me, so shipping is not an issue.
